To each their own I guess. But to say Finns fade out is a poor analysis. Heinola looked solid in the NHL just this year, Heiskanen turned out quite well, Valimaki is going to be a stud, Ihear Laine is pretty good too, and what about Rantanen? Sure there are players like Kotkaniemi and Puljujarvi who probably went to high, and Kakko had a rough year. However those guys were taken for their offensive prowess, which is not what people say about Lundell.

First rounders from 2012:

2016: #2 Laine has been fantastic, same with 2017: #3 Heiskanen. 2019: #2 Kaapo Kakko was "NHL ready" - 23 points, also not saying they wont all be busts so dont think i'm saying Kakko is a bust, but he was an 'elite NHL ready talent' he probably could have done well with a year in the A.

AHL developed
2012: 18 overall Teuvo Teräväinen spent 2 years in the A, hes been good, not elite.
2013: #2 Barkov had a slow start to his career, #8 oa Rasmus Ristolainen pretty contentious player, same with #22 Olli Määttä who i debated calling a bust,
2014: #22 Kapanen spent 4 years in the minors to become a decent 3rd liner
2015: #10 Rantanen 2 years in the A
2017: #16 Juuso Välimäki played 3 years in the WHL and 1 in the A also just missed an entire season, #29 Henri Jokiharju 2 years in the WHL 1 in the A, 30 Eeli Tolvanen 2 years in the USHL, 1 in the KHL, 2 in the AHL (seems the realize juniors is better than Liiga as well), #24 Kristian Vesalainen 1 in the KHL 2 in the A
2018: 3 Jesperi Kotkaniemi sent to the AHL after struggling in the NHL again as a player that was supposed to step in immediately. #20 Rasmus Kupari just got to the A
2019: to early to tell for both #19 Lassi Thomson (WHL) and #20 Ville Heinola

Busts:
2014: #14 Julius Honka
2016: #4 Jesse Puljujarvi, #5 Olli Juolevi #23 Henrik Borgstrom
2017: #18 Urho Vaakanainen (jury maybe still out, but hasnt shown anything in the NHL)

I'm not saying to play Lundell at 2C lol, you would test him out in preseason at 3C and see how he does. At worse he needs 1 year to develop but her is a high IQ player that is very defensively responsible.

The Sabres have that with Cozens though, so use the pick to get yourself a 2C which is their biggest need. With someone like Domi they can move him to the wing as well when Cozens graduates

I don't remember that at all.

He played 19-20 minutes per game for them for two seasons, including the playoffs and their run to the finals.

Only got to 65 games played with Vegas due to injuries.
When the D core was healthy, he was healthy scratch.

There were a cup contender that year too, they just didnt get there.
Doesnt mean they weren't contenders.

they lost in the 1st round and he played 6 of the 7 games.

so he played 26 of 27 possible playoff games and 82 games one year and 65 a year he got hurt and you sum up his time as "a healthy scratch on a cup contending team" and then deem the team that lost in the 1st round the cup contenders, not the team that made it to the cup.

poor form.

Go look it up.
I know for fact he was healthy scratch prior to trade with Buffalo because there some rumblings on him to Toronto then too.

So if someone is a healthy scratch once after playing 167 of 167 games in a row that is what they should be known for?

Kapanen is also a 3rd liner who saw his ice time drop from 17+ to 15+ minutes this year. They were playing Kerfoot in the top 6 over him. This deal is fair

I was never saying anything else. But the Leafs don't have too many good 3rd line wingers who are also good at the PK, while they have enough 3rd pairing Ds already
