Ottawa already has too many options at LHD, they sure as hell aren't giving up a pick to acquire another one.

NO#1... Hoffman will cost at least 7M/y.. without saying Domi need ++$
In regards of Dunn... right target! STK are in real CapJam... with Tara to jump back from LITR and Pietro to sign @ 8-9M/y... they need to shred 10M of the pay roll before Dunn signature..
Might ask for more $$$ as another GM should offer him more

IMO, Domi will definitely get a 1 year contract. It gives both the market & Domi a chance to bounce back, and the habs don’t need to commit long term when they don’t know what Domi they’re getting.

And signing Hoffman would be horrible, he’s a one trick pony, and he would cause us to lose at least one player from one of the best lines in the league.

It's in Domi's interest to take a one or maybe even two year bridge, the kid hasn't proved his consistency yet and with the flat cap news paired with the loss of revenue obviously contracts will come a little more on the cheap side of things all around the league. Add to it that Domi might not play the whole season due to health concerns and it'd be risky for everyone to sign a long deal. If I'm the player I take a bridge and I trust myself to prove them, the two year deal comes to an end when he hits 27 years old so he'll be able to cash out in the middle of his prime for a long term agreement. See Kevin Hayes, Duchene, Tavares among others, I'm not comparing Domi to any of them but only that 27 years of age is an excellent timing (Player wise) to sign your mega deal.
A good deal for both parties would be a 2Y/6M$, Domi double his income and Montreal has a risk-free contract. If the team ends up with Lafreniere at leats you don't have a log jam at LW and can manage to move guys.

I don’t understand why the habs would pay him what he would make on a long-term deal for 2 years, and walk him straight to UFA? Sounds like Domi’s dream deal.
