      Barzal/PLD get easily matched

Interesting to see what happens with Cirelli since with no income Tax Tampa could offer less Cap hit wise but still have the same real money to the player

Isles match that. If we lose Barzal, we’d have to begin another rebuild. Objectively not worth getting a 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Isles match, you would have to get into the $11M+ range for Isles not to consider to match. But then you have to ask if you want to pay Barzal that much and give up 4 1st round picks.

That's easily matched. If Bergevin's job is to get RFA's to sign acceptable OS's so the original team can match he is doing a fantastic job tears of joy

Yep FL state taxes should offer Cirelli 5-5,5M a year to match up... but they are still log-jam

Why... you think Barzy should get a 10-11M OS ???

If MB is going to throw out an offer sheet to anyone I think he'll defintely go after teams with cap issues.
You've mentioned some good teams to target but I think the key targets here will be a combination of a team up against the cap + roster needs.
In that case I think he needs to target two teams in particular.
You're on the right track with TBL but you're going after the wrong player. Need to target Sergachev and get him back.
If that doesn't work, target STL and go after Dunn.
Again, these two teams are up against the cap and need to sign other KEY players to ensure they remain cup contenders. In addition these two players fill an immediate important need on the HABS roster a puck moving LD who can quarterback a PP. I say Bergevin should throw out everything he can in order to ensure one of them lands in MTL.

unfortunately, the habs don't need Cirelli.
      They need Sergachev.

Tampa already cant match this cirelli offer with out worrying about the other RFAs. They have 5.3 mil available next year to fill 3 RD spots and 2 bottom six Fs. They cannot afford cirelli at anything above 3mil and even at they will have to get creative.

I agree 100% with what you have said... but my goal was to get a real 1C this morning...
The reason why I didn't do one for LHD... many cheap option could be find this year: à
Tradding for Leddy (2y left) or Murray would be easy... or UFA as a ton of option with losing any 1st, 2nd pick
like: Krug, Barrie, Gufs, Vatanen, Brodie, Edmunston... to name a few

They also need to be accepted though, and Tampa has had good luck getting their players to stay, I think they'll keep all 3 of the RFAs personally

It does not work. When you offer sheet players. you need to pay it with your own picks. And the Habs cannot pay the same pick to several teams at the same time. That was the case in the St. Louis New Jersey thing with Shanahan and Scott Stevens.

Great posts here. Glad to also see productive and respectful responses instead of the usual angry posts. I'll say three things:
      1) Montreal's greatest need is still at Center (2nd need at LHD). I think they should OS PLD, make it front end heavy like the Aho one (except bigger, 9-10 Mil). CLB will have a hard time matching after this covid crisis.
      2) If Tampa doesn't get OS'd this year I'll be pretty upset. It's about time GMs use the tools at their disposal to make their teams better and make life difficult for others.
      3) I know 11 months ago we were all saying it was an easy OS for Carolina to match, but if you look at the numbers, Dundon has spent $30 Mil the first 13 months of Aho's contract during a pandemic. All of a sudden it's a much more difficult contract to digest. He might regret it now.

I agree, Dundon arrogance is showing that Dudley has it right about the Canes situation with the owner situation.
Hopefully it will be very interesting in the next 4 months

I wouldn’t get to hopeful about an OS this year primarily because of the pandemic and uncertainty surrounding it. I agree wholeheartedly that GM’s have been foolishly not using it, but this off season I think that teams are going to put a premium on short term deals to stay cap flexible.

I am sure that Bettman called Marc and ask him to not put anymore $$$ pressure on any USA-Team as this Cane offer put them in a bad financial risk... something that Betty hates!!!
