Description
FLA gets Dzingel to help replace Dadanov/Hoffman and Gardiner to make Yandle or Matheson expendable to save some $$.

VGK get a good young cost controlled middle sixer to replace Tuch and a 1B goalie to split time with or step in for Fleury when he gets injured.

OTT gets a 1B for Nilsson to split time with who brings a larger cap hit than salary. This gives Hogberg another year to mature.

CAR gets a decent goalie prospect and a cheap 7th D-man from FLA. A true scoring winger for the top 6 and a home grown center prospect who has fallen depth chart in OTT

Also CAR sign a good vet in Fast to replace Williams, and the Top UFA goalie long term.

1. FLA is trying to get rid of $$ so taking on Dzingel AND Gardiner might not interest them. Maybe just Dzingel but who knows?

2. I don't think VGK moves Tuch. He did have a down year for sure but I think they hold onto him hoping he rebounds. Although I am a big fan of Foegele.

3. OTT won't give up Brown for 1 year of Reimer. Reimer did put up decent numbers last year but he is definitely not worth the potential of Brown. I think OTT goes with Nilsson & Hogberg next season and just rides it out.

4. I think thats too much for Lehner. Although I think Lehner will come in around 6/6, with everything going on I don't think if he'll get as big of a payday as he deserves.

Im not against the premise of the Reimer trade but Hogberg’s contract becomes one way this season. So unless the trade involved bringing Hogberg or Nilsson back I don’t see Ottawa taking on another goalie.

Ya Brown is worth more than Reimer and Ottawa is going to rock Hogberg and Nilsson in net. only way they trade or sign another goalie is if Nilssons concussion doesnt improve and he cant play

All fair points...
1. the point of bringing in Gardiner is to get rid of Yandle or Matheson who both carry higher salaries and longer terms.

2. Agreed. But I feel this trade could make some sense.

3. Brown is no longer a top prospect for OTT. CAR could add a pick if necessary. Reimer is only due like $1.5 Mil so it is cheap insurance for Nilsson.

4. I hope you are right if CAR can land him. Less is more.. haha

Where is Brown on OTT's C depth chart? It looks to me like he has no path to the NHL there.

Should have read the FLA trade closer! That makes sense. As for Lehner, I think CAR is the perfect spot for him and I think they have a great shot at landing him. Either way though, I think CAR is in such a good position next year no matter what. Such an exciting team to watch!

White has shown that he can't be a true 1C so right now Brown and Norris are 1A and 1B on the C depth chart. He is only 22 years old and played 2 full pro seasons, he has tons of potential and if he can improve his skating will be a 1C in the NHL. No need to trade him for a useless back up goalie

Reimer is only due 850k next season.

I don’t see the Canes moving Foegele. He has been described as the quintessential Hurricane.

Also doubt Lorentz plays over McGinn.

Signing Fast could be a good move for us. But a Foegele-Staal-Fast shutdown line would be fairly exciting. Speedy wings that pester the crap out of other teams.

$850k.. even better. I was too lazy to look it up.

I love Foegele myself and I agree that he is a prototypical Brind'Amour style player. But we need a more high end offensive player in the top 6 and you have to give to get.

I agree with you on the Lorentz over McGinn point because Rod is gonna Rod. But if I were the coach, I would bring in Lorentz to add more offensive upside to the 4th line. He is a bigger, better version of McGinn.

as far as prospects, I thought it was more like:
1. Norris
2. Batherson
3. Pinto
4. Brown

Batherson has only played RW in the NHL and Pinto hasn't even signed a contract with the team

You can actually check that RIGHT HERE at this site. Their current depth at pivot goes: White, Tierney, Paul, L Brown.
I won't say Logan Brown is untouchable, but OTT would not move him for a position where they have so many other options (if they even need one, ie Nilsson retires). It's not like they're pushing for the playoffs next year so they could just sign an older UFA to a one year deal: Anderson, Howard, Elliott, Smith, Dell, Miller...

Woof, that OTT trade is very very bad.
