Before a Chicago fan says they can get more, the difference between Saad and Simon was <15 points this year

Curious to what Chicago fans think.

Murray had a sub .900 save percentage this season, Crow was playing great we will just sign him. Simon is a middle 6 forward, not something we need, saad scores more and kills penalties which is more important to us.

84% of his play is with Crosby. Hawks fans aren't dumb enough to think we truly have Crosby. My favorite all time player is Toews. He's not Crosby. EVERY team needs to reduce their value of Simon if they want to acquire him. Hawks pass. I'm scared of Murray's arbitration results and him being a UFA. AND he's just worse that Crow!

Holding onto Saad is horrific asset management, so I was assuming he's on the move to a team this offseason (his NTC makes an in season trade difficult). Crawford is 35 and despite a rough season, Murray has an almost identical career SV%

Simon's results away from Crosby are about the same as with him, very strong underlying numbers as well

if you take the entire career of Crow and the very short career of Murray....Crows WORST career year is arguably 50% of Murray's career

The point I was making is that nitpicking a single season in their careers doesn't paint the whole picture, they have similar underlying ability

60 minutes is WAY too low to be dependable. Especially because his career numbers are not close.

this is wrong though. My point is murray has 4 seasons. And 2 of them are about equal to Crows single worst in a 10 year career

Forgetting overall career numbers, it's a trade of a 20+ point player and a starting goalie (both under team control) for a 40+ point rental. I just don't think it's that off base

Murray's worst season other than this one he had a .907 in 17-18, Crawford had a .908 literally last season

You say under control but it's 100% not under the Hawks (or PITs) control. A court had a major say in him for 1 year....and then he's a UFA. Theres practically zero team control.

No competent GM is giving him a one year deal, in arbitration he wouldn't make 5 coming off this season, and his rumored ask is less than 7 on a longer term deal

This is just wrong too. Why did less than half a season of Binnington get $4.4M? Now how about 4 seasons as a starter and an extra cup too. Arbitration looks at what OTHER goalies got and what they did to get their contract.

But it 100% plays a factor. There are approx 10 times a team files for arb...in the past 10 years. Meaning once per year. There are dozens of players that file every year.

I still wouldn't make this trade as a Pens fan. the only way id trade Murray is if we were getting a young, cost controlled right winger with top 6 upside. Saad doesn't fit that bill

I think Saad would resign and age wise he fits our core

Why are we forgetting career numbers? Forgeting murray couldn't stop the put from going in the net last year...he was great!

Its not bad asset management, we can trade him for something else that we need or hold onto him if we make playoffs next year. Murray has just been average or below average since he had his safety net (fleury) leave. I'd rather take crow in the short term and hedge bets on our goalie system or other FA goalies like holtby than depend on murray.

Do you think Murray will at least file for arbitration?

I can't say enough how I don't want Saad. Saad = over rated and over paid.

When Simon had 64 games versus Saad's 58 and Saad still had 14 more goals. No thanks, not trading a 1st liner for bottom 6. We'll sign him to a extension around $4.5M for 5 years or move him at the TDL for a return like Zucker got and maybe more since Saad has been way more reliable throughout his career.
