Marner To New York Rangers

Description
I feel the Rangers could be good trade partners with the Leafs because they have a lot of right hand shooting defencemen, which is exactly Toronto needs. Obviously understanding that he might not waive for, I feel Jacob Trouba for Mitch Marner would make sense. Indeed, Trouba had a down year for his standards, but I feel that moreso has to do with coaching, since Lindy Ruff isn't very good. He still ranked in the 65th percentile in expected goals against, which is pretty good plus averaged 22 minutes a game. He is the top pair RD Toronto needs.

This is by far your absolutely most crazy post I have read. Firstly, Marner has so much more value than Trouba. Secondly Trouba has publicly stated while with Winnipeg that he would only play for an American team.

@MitchMarnerElite I wish you would come clean and admit to everyone here on CapFriendly that you are really a Penguins fan and highly jealous of Marner and the Leafs too such a point that you only post anti-Marner posts that make no sense for any true hockey fan. You should really be appreciating Marner for the tremendous role model he is as a professional hockey player both on and off the ice to kids. Really disappointed that you continue your anti-Marner sediments daily on this site while the player is doing nothing but good deeds for a lot of less fortunate people in our world. Could you for a change try to celebrate Marner for a change.

Lmfao that’s great.

Yea, no. The Marner-trouba trade is awful. Marner for Fox is more reasonable. Trouba was awful this year and hes paid like a top 8 defenseman when he isnt even a top 50 defenseman in the league. The Leafs arent going to retain on marner, they already get a terrible contract

Quoting: Leafs_and_Sens_Fan
Nah. Trouba is overpaid. NYR should be retaining on Trouba if anything not Toronto retaining on Marner.

A more fair deal would be
Trouba + Kakko for Marner

he has a twitter which is even worse than his armchair account if possible...

Trouba was one of the top defenders in the NHL when he played for Winnipeg. On Toronto, he will be a legit top pairing option. Honestly, Toronto has better use paying big money to Trouba than they do for Marner.

mhm. your elite playmaking winger and best penalty killer. this would NEVER happen one for one. this is worse than Hall for Larsson.

Damn the hate on Trouba is really strong on this site. Trouba had a down year, but that was mostly cuz of the poor coaching. When he played for Winnipeg, he was maybe a top 20 defender in the league. He can play a shutdown role, that’s exactly what Toronto needs.

yes, toronto needs a shut down RHD. but trading your second best player, your elite playmaker winger, the guy who literally feeds matthews or tavares, one of the best penalty killers on the team, is the worst idea i’ve seen on this site.

sign big buff and give him a chance instead. don’t trade your best winger and second best player.

did.....did you actually look at the stats? he was terrible. He had 3 goals and 17 points in 70 games, and pretty much god awful advanced stats. he got absolutly hammered in shots and chances against, etc etc etc. he was terrible. Like, you arnt even looking at the numbers, there is no way you looked them up and thought he did well.

I saw his RAPM, & indeed he was horrible this season. I never denied that, but if you look at his SKATR & RAPM from last season, he was above average in most areas. I’m telling ya, his poor play had a lot to do with the Rangers’ conservative system & overall poor coaching that did not support his game at all. In TOR, he’d be an excellent fit on the top pair with Muzzin.

I have nothing against Marner, I just want to finish my series in which I look at how he fits in with other teams since he’s my favourite player.

Well, I want to let you know that I am not doing this “Trade Marner” series has nothing to do with the fact that I’m a Pens fan. The reason why I’m doing this is because Marner is my favourite player & there have been a lot of people who think the Leafs need to trade him. So I decided to explore how he’d fit in with other teams.

Indeed there are probably other options the Leafs can explore besides trading Marner, but he is in no way Toronto’s 2nd best player. Tavares & Matthews are both a few levels ahead of him. There have been many Leafs analysts who have stated that the Leafs need to trade Marner this offseason because he’s made himself an expendable asset.

it’s always gonna be debatable. marner is a pass first kinda guy with incredible hockey sense and defence who can still score. matthews’ two way game is questionable although it’s getting better... however he is one of the best goal scorers in the league right now. tavares is #3 in my mind. marner can do more overall and matthews is a better version of tavares.

marner also was 11th in league scoring two years ago and despite being injured this year was still 18th in the league.

So you promise that there will be and end of your anti-Marner posts by a Penguins fan who is extremely jealous of Marner and Leafs.
