Description
MaxDomi13 thought someone was trading for m Jones at first when it was for seth jones. Not totally sure how much Jones would cost to dump. It might be better to use colorados second.

Leafs dont do good with attitude problem players, they really don't need an OFD and their defense is already bad enough that Andersen has to bail them out nearly every game. This is really bad

I wasn't sure how much it cost to dump Jones Either. I think the cost would be about Merkley. So that leaves Anderson for a second. I think if it is Colorado's second, that would be better for you guys.

Don’t understand how San Jose says no. If Anderson extends they get a far superior goalie, and shed a bad contract in Jones. Merkley is a high risk high reward prospect and SJS already have karlsson/ burns locked in long term on the right side

Leafs say no to this trade.

If that's going to to be the cost for SJ, they might as well just keep Jones.

IF Andersen resigns, that will just be another contract for a 30 year old player. SJ is extremely unlikely to move Merkley, and Burns will be gone either in a trade or Expansion Draft.

you guys are out of your minds

Merkley is a future top 4 defenseman who I think can be productive on the 1st or 2nd pair at around 21 years of age. His defense has gotten way better and on DobberProspects his coach has "been singing Merkley's praise"

Those who questioned his character issues will be happy to hear that London Knights head coach Dale Hunter has been singing Merkley’s praise not only for his on-ice production but for his off-ice leadership as well. Hunter has been quoted saying that Merkley’s humour and attitude in the dressing room are one of the reasons his teammates love him.

yes Karlsson and Burns are signed for a long time, but Burns is definitely tradable. I could also see Seattle taking him.

I still think Merkley has a high bust potential based on what I've heard. SJS should've made that Karlsson trade with the 2019 first round pick. They shouldn't have deferred it all the way to 2020 with a stronger draft class and San Jose would obviously have had a weaker team than 2018-19 due to expiring contracts. No matter what you say, I will not change my opinion with Merkley. A lot of teams (toronto included) wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot poll

Merkly and a 2nd is probably a minor over payment for Andersen straight up, but if you are throwing in your terrible goalie with his terrible contract, the scales tilt the other way, especially when the Leafs dont have a bunch of cap space to sit on a terrible goalie or the current NHL goaltending depth to casually let him play back up.

This is a horrific gamble for the leafs for a prospect who MIGHT be a good top 4 RHD one day.

And Burns is 35 years old with 5 more years at 8 million per. No one, not even seattle is taking him unless you add significantly.

you think Merkley and a 2nd is only a minor overpayment for Andersen?! no way. Scouts were saying in the draft that Merkley's skill level was in the top 10 (some even said top 5) of his draft class but since he had attitude problems and wasn't great defensively that caused him to drop. Now that there's reports that those issues are fixed his value is very high.

lol, every single prospect might be good some day. that's like saying you wouldn't trade Andersen for the 2020 1st overall pick because Lafreniere "might" be a top 6 forward one day.

yes, that is what a good starting goalie costs. Merkley is about the equivilant of a late 1st in value right now. Andersen cost more than that when he was a potential starter, Jones himself cost a mid range 1st when he was a potential starter.

and as if you are comparing Merkley to Lafrenier. that's insane.
