Trade up a bit for byfield

Description
I truly think that to be a contending team you need high end centers. You have one in Larkin, but I think DET could become a scary team with another #1C on the team in the future. If LA takes Stutzle, I'd be trying very hard to trade up to #3 if I were Yzerman.

This team makes a playoff push

only way this works is if ottawa prefers rossi to byfield. otherwise they take byfield because this here isn't worth it if their valuation is byfield over rossi

Takes more than that to trade up even one spot in the top 5. Even more so to get into the top 3.

I agree, and I think a lot of scouts have them pretty close. Meaning to say that some teams might find that the difference is less than a 2nd rounder in such a deep draft and a C level prospect. I'd add a bit more if I had to if I were DET

They do have some decent young centers do they not? I honeslty dont know
Maybe im overthinking guys like Josh Norris and Logan Brown
then they are good at LW with Brady
Then D they are probably good with Branstrom and Drysdale
so maybe a RW to compliment Batherson? idk lol

Sens have good Cs, but they all project as 2Cs rather than a legitimate 1C. If they get a shot to draft Byfield at 3rd, I don't they even consider trading back. He's basically the perfect player for what they need.

I don't see DET trading up. If anything they trade down for more picks/prospects and draft a guy like Askarov that'll take a few years before he comes to the NHL. Yzerman is playing the long game. They'll be last place again next year...and possible 2 years from now.

I dont see Detroit needing Byfield. Byfield many people call the most over-hyped player in this draft class. He is good offensively but occasionally looks disengaged in his own zone and while okay defensively Rossi and Perfetti are much better options for 2 way centers. Also he starting to grow a reputation for being hard to coach and his work ethic is questionable.

Rossi
Stuzle
Perfetti

All are the better options. I honestly would not be surprised if he falls. As for Detroit I see them drafting Drysdale.

Yeah no thanks, Steve Yzerman already stated that he's trying to acquire even more picks. So Detroit would probably trade down a few spots before trading up to acquire another 2nd round pick.

I think it's safe to say picks 1-4 won't be traded. Now make a good enough offer to Ottawa and maybe but only because it's their 2nd pick of the draft. It's still not very likely to happen.

The difference between Byfield and Rossi is so immense that Cholowski and a 2nd are laughable. Rossi is ranked in just about every list around 7-9. A few have him really high, but their defense of that falls apart whenever people bring up Rossi's numerous flaws. Why on earth would the Sens trade away one of the two unreal prospects that act as consolation prizes for one of the lowest ranked prospects in the top 10, a meh defenseman, and a 2nd that they already have four of?

Now ignoring saying it's to downgrade to Rossi since he's probably one of the worst guys you could've picked for this, it's still not worth it now or ever. There's a very clear second tier behind Lafreniere that has Stutzle and Byfield. Very few people have Byfield lower than 3 and they're typically laughed at for their opinions. Dorion holds all the cards and would absolutely roast Detroit over a fire in a trade if they want to move up. Detroit and Yzerman are smarter than that so it'd never happen.

haha this team doesnt make anything close to a playoff push. Byfield isn't NHL ready, Niels and Fil are two of the worst producing centers in the NHL, they still seriously lack points from the D and that bottom 6 is terrible.

No reason to trade prospects and picks to move up 1 spot in the draft.

I don't. They have Hronek and Seider on the right side already

"a few have him ranked really high" is what I'm banking on here. Not too realistic but also not impossible.

never thought of this, and I actually think its a really good idea. Trade down and grab Askarov, or even a guy like Lundell/Sanderson/Holtz/Raymond/Perfetti/Rossi or whoever is available, and try to get #1 overall next year again and grab Aatu Raty. Not a bad plan

The Blues don't even answer that insult. They just tell you to hold on a moment as if they'll be right back, set the phone down and walk away forever.
