Veleno, Svechnikov, and Hirose should be back in the AHL. Smith and Pearson can play bottom 6
and Nielsen is also not a defensive liability. That’s too much going to Bert and Mantha. Mantha should come in 6.5 or below and Bert around 5.

Nielsen is a liability in every facet. He's the prototype of a losing player

Defensively Nielsen is okay and we aren’t going to win anymore games having a Hirose or Svechnikov take his fourth line minutes. Would I like him gone, yes. I’d rather have our prospects getting quality minutes in the AHL than a role they’re not suited for and ready for.

I feel like they have to give Svech at least a chance to start the year in DET. Also, I feel like Hirose is a lock but would play him 3rd line. Both would require waivers as well and are almost guaranteed to get claimed. While I do agree Smith could easily make this team, I think waivers will be the factor and he can be the 1st call up. Pearson on the other hand, while he improved a lot by the end of the year, I predict close* to a full year in the AHL with a call up or two. Bert and Mantha contracts are spot on, exactly what I have been putting them at in my ACGM's as well.

Svechnikov can't go back to the AHL, He's no long waiver exempt. And he'd easily be taken on waivers. So he either plays in Detroit or we trade him no other way around it.

easy no from canucks.were not giving demko away.hes worth more than a fourth by him self.hes a future starter.your team is in a rebuild. other teams are not just gonna give you good players.canucks fans have been there it takes time.would your team give up a goalie who has been touted as the next one in vancouver.we dont need to get rid of louis contract by dismantling our team.

Who did you use for the comps on Mantha and Bert?
Mantha - 7M is 8.6% CH
Bert - 6M - 7.36% CH
Factor those initial cap hits with the fact the cap is going to be approximately stagnant for 2-3 years and I just don’t see. I’ve laid out a few posts now about comparable players and I think Mantha is 6.25-6.5 (at 6.5 that’s 8% CH) and Bert is ~5 (that’s 6.13% CH). For Mantha context here are some recent signings of comparable or better players with their respective initial CH% Guentzel (7.55), Karlsson (7.24), Teravainen (6.79), Huberdeau (8.08), and Forsberg (8.2).

Hirose should need one more season accrued or roughly 35 NHL games to be waiver eligible. Completely spaced Svech’s waiver eligibility since he was always hurt.

You’re not giving him away. If anything it favors the Canucks since you rid yourself of that Eriksson cap hit when needed to sign EP and Hughes. If you guys re-sign Markstrom you’d lose Demko to Seattle anyway. I’m not sure I’d say Demko is the next great one goalie considering there are so many promising young goalies. He’ll look at Mrazek at his time in Detroit.

Sorry man I think you misunderstood me...I was agreeing with your contracts! I have been putting Bertuzzi and 5x5 and Mantha at 6x6.5 in my ACGM's. Also didn't realize that for Hirose! Thought he was 100% waiver eligible so that makes more sense for the case of keeping him in the AHL.

I think Raymond or Rossi but not Drysdale. The Wing's don't need a RD. Like Byram last season Drysdale shot up the rankings past their value because they are the best defensemen in an offense heavy draft class. 2021 will be a lot like the 2018 draft a lot of really good defensemen just not as deep.

we do not have to get rid of louis contract as bad as other teams think, we have other options were not that desperate.other contracts end next season to cover Ep and Hughes my point is demko if traded would bring us more hes not some throw in he will be a good nhl goalie.

He is a true center something Detroit lacks. Picks 4-8 are all fairly even talent wise that being the case team needs plays a bigger role. I do like Raymond a lot now.

Yes you do have contracts ending like Pearson or Edler but who fills those holes? Those guys don’t come cheap. You also have to factor in Demko isn’t a throw in the trade so he offsets the 6M x 2 years which would cost a 1+ to move (considering Marleau/Backes as a baseline). Would you rather use future draft picks instead of Demko? I’m sure Yzerman would love that.

Larkin has stepped in to that role, When playing for the USA in tournaments he spent a lot of time at left wing and some of it was on Eichel's line. Veleno is a center but how far out is he a lot of Detroit fans doubt we see Veleno in the NHL at all this season.
