Eichels a great player, his contract isnt. Its about average for his caliber. I think the point is to find players that are good value for their cap hit, not playing as expected for it

I would argue Hyman for the leafs as 2.25 mill and has 37 points or 21 goals in 51 games if he played all 70 potentially 45 points was the projection.

Draisaitl by far, one of the best in the league. 8.5 mill for 100+ points. Id also say McDavids contract is bad. Stud of a player but its made their GMs life miserable putting talent around him

McDavid is the highest paid player in the league, so you cant call that contract a good value contract if its literally the highest there is. Draisaitl is slightly underpaid, but I feel like Haas deserves a lot more than what he is already getting

I can definitely see that. I gave it to Rielly since he was the best defenseman in the league last year before his injury.

Haas hasn't even won a full time roster spot. I don't think he'd make my top 10 best Oilers contracts, to be honest. Klefbom, Nurse, Draisaitl, Nugent-Hopkins and McDavid all provided more value per dollar. Smith's 19-12-6 record for just $2M, Kassian's 21 goal pace for $1.95M, Archibald's 12 goals and excellent PK work for $1M, Jones' $850k deal going forward, etc.

Besides, Haas' $925k contract that you list above is an ELC. So he doesn't even qualify for the list!

He led all defensemen in xWAR/60 which is probably the most complete stat there is. He also led all defensemen in points and goals. Yea, his defense is pretty bad, but his insane offense more than made up for it

Defense is about defense too. Thats why people dont call krug a top 5 nhl dman rn (and even then, him and Carlo were a top 3 defensive dpair ON TOP OF the offense)

Id like to see where you are getting this information from. Yes, Rielly's defense is bad, but so is Draisaitl, and he seems to get so much love. Krug's offense want Rielly-esque last year. And this year was a down year for Morgan because of injuries. He is still a young rising star with Norris potential
