we dont need Kadri back. Look at the leafs center depth for the future and we have so many good prospects almost ready

SDA
Abramov
Adruzze
even Kerfoot once he bounces back will be a great 3c for us. Kadri got himself traded for not controlling his temper.

That's a substantial amount of assets to give up just to sign Demelo and have Kadri playing 3 C

but if you're rolling 3 lines they need to be some really good lines. Kerfoot at 3.5M vs. Kadri at 4.5 is worth the upgrade when you need him to play 1/3 of the time. Plus him and Marner played quite well together and it spreads the wealth with the lines a bit to give you 3 really solid lines

if barrie worked out here, maybe he wins, but the way it worked out he lost it. But hey, barrie's tenure as a leaf isn't over, he has time to change my mind. If he is unreal in these playoffs, returns to avs form, and the leafs take a serious run at the cup with him being a key part, maybe the trade worked out well both ways. But as it stands right now COL absolutely won

3 F over 10 million - those horses are paid to play, Leafs can play 2 lines 25 mins a night - that leaves a grand total of 10 mins split between the 3rd and 4th line which should manageable and reasonably safe to do with Kerfoot, Kapenen, Mikheyev, Spezza, Engvall, and Clifford

Hes younger, more offensively talented and has more potential. Im taking that over a career decent fourth liner

They are a year apart almost to the day in age and again Gambrell has shown nothing that could categorized as "offensive" at the NHL level

Not a single forward in the NHL even averaged 23 minutes let alone 25. They’d get smoked at the end of games.

The problem for the Leafs in the trade imo was they tried to make Barrie something he isn’t. He is a PP transition play horse who thrives with the puck on his stick. The coaching change helped but it just seems like a bad fit.

I agree, I also think the options were limited for Dubus when it came to trading Kadri which he really didn't have much of a choice at the time with the cap situation they were facing and the simple fact Kadri made himself unavailable for back to back playoff series - Kadri has a M-NTC and I have to think he had no interest in leaving TO so teams like the Ducks, Wild, Sabres, or other teams who would be looking for a 2 C with a better fit RHD wouldn't of been an option for trade

I mean ya he was looking better under Keefe, but I think he was just still a bit shaken from the start of the season with Babcock. Maybe the break will help him reset like its a new season and Keefe can use him the way he should be used

They had a deal in place Kadri for Brodie that Kadri shot down

It can literally be considered a new season the break will be around 140 days the average off season is 110 days - my concern for the Leafs is Freddie he's a slow starter I can absolutely see Campbell getting the starter job for this tournament
