I would agree that neither are ready for that yet, but 3 years from now is a long time. And with both of them being top 10 picks it seems plausible to assume that they could reach that when their contracts are expiring. Tbh it really doesn’t matter as this post is about Marner and I don’t think Columbus should really consider Marner as a possibility because Toronto would want more and he isn’t exactly a perfect fit. We need a center, not necessarily more wings.

Yeah I agree I think Marner would have a hard time fitting in under Torts. He’s not exactly the type of player that grinds, works hard & contributes defensively.

Dubas would personally phone you and tell you that Marner will never be traded by the Leafs as this proposal must be a joke right.

Thanks for the tag! I'm guessing since you're username is MitchMarnerElite that'd you'd love to see to him in a Jackets sweater. I would too, I just don't see it happening. We like Texier as CBJ fans but he hasn't really done anything in the league (yet). I really hope Savard plays his entire career with Columbus.

Wennberg to Vegas – I'll help him pack his bags. C ya! Love it.

Props for some good thought put into this one. Who knows, maybe when Toronto loses the qualifier they win Lafrenière and have to move Marner based on an embarrassment of riches? Crazier things have happened.

@BenBodycheck Just letting you know that my user name is TML_Tika and not @MitchMarnerElite who is really a Penguins fan who is extremely jealous of Marner and the Leafs and writes an anti-Marner post every day of some crazy trade that makes no sense to any real hockey fan like you.

I live on the Westcoast of Canada and am a die hard Leafs fan and very disappointed that MitchMarnerElite continues to post anti-Marner posts every day on a young player that is everything that is right with being a professional hockey player and is a tremendous role model to all fans and especially young kids and does nothing but good deeds to a lot of less fortunate people in this world.

I hope you understand why i do not want my name confused with this person.

I have a lot of respect for the Columbus Blue Jackets and especially for your coach and wish you guys all the best in the future.

Another totally incorrect comment by you @MitchMarnerElite as Torts would love a player like Mitch Marner. Torts is a winner and likes hockey players that are winners and work hard and Marner plays 5x5, PK and PP and is the ultimate team player who is loved by his teammates and fans. Torts loved coaching the Sedins in Vancouver and would be no different with Marner.

So sad that you are such an anti-Marner hockey fan and are really a Penguins fan who is extremely jealous of Marner and the Leafs.

I think this trade isn’t getting you Marner...

      Quoting: Bluejackets2000
I would make the trade above.
Wouldn't even need to top 3 protect the 1st round pick, since this team would most likely make the playoffs.
I would hate losing Texier, because I think he is going to be extremely good center in about 3 years...Danault is a capable replacement at 2C and higher scorer than Wennberg.
Not to mention Foudy is going to be very good too and ready for 2C duty in a couple years time.
By 2021, Kirill Marchenko should probably be ready to join the team, another very highly touted prospect.

If Toronto wants to do a star-power-for-quality-depth trade with Marner, I'm all ears. But I suspect that's not the objective.

Guys, I would like to inquire about the asking price for Dean Kukan. The Penguins need to find a third pairing D to replace Schultz this offseason & he seems like an option. Does he play the right side? What would be a reasonable offer?

Kukan has been solid on the 3rd pairing over the last couple years. First Nutivaara came along and then Kukan right after. Kukan has played some limited spot duty on the right a few times, but primarily plays left side. Kukan really stepped up the last couple years’ playoffs due to injuries and did quite well. I would expect asking price might be a 3rd and a decent prospect. He maybe worthy of a 2nd if he continues to play quality minutes in prime time (playoffs)...his contract certainly is good.

Not sure I’d move Kukan. He’s already extended, Nuttivaara looks like the odd man out right now and a more expansive contract. Personally I’d rather move Murray then either of the other 2.

I don't think Kukan would be pricey but I don't think we are looking to move him

I think Nutivarra would be moved before Kukan. Nuti plays RD primarily and would probably cost a 2nd rd pick.
