Description
To every poster here who keep posting Gaudreau trade to NYR, pls know this: we're not going for the cup next year. Our goal for next season will be to contonue giving ADA, Fox and Lindgren big minutes, increase Chytil's, Lemieux's, Gauthier's and Kakko's ice time while giving decent rookie-like ice time to Kravtsov and Miller and all that while giving the net to our 2 headed monster in goal.

So when you guys see Rags fans moving Strome and Trouba for more futures like picks/prospects/young NHLers, it's perfectly normal, it's called building for the future, which is still 100% what we're doing in NYR.

Strome won't get a 1st.

He probably will, he had 34 pts in 17-18 with Khaira and JP... he dragged that line around that year

Also last year he was 0,5 PPG with us, that's worth a very late 1st rounder

Nope.

He only looked «bad» because of Ruff's idiotness.

Everyone who leaved his teams gets better... see Pionk, Shattenkirk and Skjei in recent memory

It's about the money and the caphit, not the player.

Uh ok, VAN's pick will be 20 ish IMO, if you only took his player in consideration he fetches a 1st rounder that would be a bit earlier. When taken in consideration his contract, he fetches a mid to late 1st rounder. Also his defensive game looked fine this year, if he can keep that up and go back to his offensive production he had in WIN he'll be just fine

Lol good one

Also what would Fleury cost?

Someone asked me the same question, but tbh I really dont know at this point. Im assuming it wouldnt be to much since hes an RFA after this season.

My hope is that he resigns with the Canes. You are probably better off trading for Bean (they probably have about the same value)

For Bean I would assume that a prospect swap would be fair, or maybe a 2nd and 3rd rounder.

I'd rather have Fleury as a 1-2 year stopgap

1 for 1 for Andersson? do we add a pick?

Is there a problem with Howden? He is putting decent number for a 22 years old. If you are in rebuilding mode, would he not fit in that strategy?

I like the trade by the way.

I've been scouting Strome from games this year since this idea has been proposed a million times. So far my suspicions of Panarin carrying Strome's line have been confirmed, but I'm not done scouting him yet.

Panarin carries every line he's on, even if Zibanejad's on it. I'm not sure any way that won't be confirmed.

Eichel entirely carries the top line in Buffalo, is Reinhart not worth a 1st?

Trouba is not worth a first right now, he underwhelmed this season and carries an 8M AAV cap hit. If he improves his play next season I could see it though.

But even then, I would hope Fitzgerald doesn't trade away any first rounders unless it is to move up or down in the draft (the devils do not have a second or third round pick in '20)

I like the trades a lot. You did a great job there, pretty much across the board. Very nice.

Your contract numbers for Grant/Kulikov seem really high for a 1 year deal. EW has Kulikov taking 1.5 mil for a 1 year deal. and Grant at 1.2 mil for a 1 year deal.

Oesterle's a good target, I'm less enthused by Kulikov/Grant. Both have been replacement level or below the last couple seasons. But there are plenty of players who would be good 3rd pair/4th line guys who are available as UFA's or very cheaply on the trade market so not a huge deal. That should give you a few more mil in cap space. Also, if you're not going to play or trade Smith, you can stash him in the AHL and save some $$

Poor defensive numbers. Offense primarily driven by a flukey Sh% and a high PDO that's most likely to regress (see Ryan Spooner's offensive tenure with the Rangers).

I guess I'm trying to say I wouldn't pay a first for Strome after what I've seen so far, but after the season he had any competent GM wouldn't accept anything less.

I get that. And I think if you're looking for the sort of player like Kase or Fiala that can be a 1 man offensive creator you're going to be disappointed. Strome is more of a distributor. He's not the sort of player that's going to be totally self-sufficient, but he's the sort of player who makes great players elite by virtue of his ability to make high-danger passes consistently - his passing is special. But of course you need players who can bury close chances for that skill to be truly valuable. He's the sort of guy that turns Kaprizov from a 60-70 point player to a 90 point player if that makes sense. He's the kind of passer you hope Boldy develops into. If Kap wasn't coming over I wouldn't deal for him since I'm not sure any of your other F's could really benefit from Strome's skillset.

It's also why he makes a lot of sense in a place like San Jose as a replacement for Thornton's elite passing. Players like Kane and Labanc and Meier could really benefit from someone who can put the puck in high danger areas with consistency because right now they're forced to rely heavily on that coming from Burns/EK.

If that's the case then why would New York trade him? He had fantastic chemistry with Panarin and he's a great 2C behind Zibanejad. I know the Rangers have Chytil but you can never have enough good centers

Because of Chytil being a better player. Normally that wouldn’t be an issue on a normal team. But David Quinn as coach doesn’t like playing kids in the top 6. So if Strome came back he’d be in the top 6.

Rangers are rebuilding so player development is the highest priority. And keeping Chytil in the bottom 6 another year is going to really screw up his development. He has a Hertl/Zibanejad/Trocheck type ceiling and with him alongside Panarin, he’s very likely to hit that.

Without Panarin the Rangers are a lottery team, and the majority of that is due to Quinn’s poor lineup decisions and Refusal to play superior younger players in big roles. The Rangers have the youngest roster in the league and there’s no one younger than 25 in their top 6/4
