Get Korshkov outta there, sign Grant and get Soderberg as 3C

But all of this doesn’t matter since MH is literally untouchable

I basically agree with you that MH is untouchable. But if he would not be, the offer would be in an area of fairness I'd think. Also, Dallas has very good Ds that are all kind of young, while upfront Seguin is the only really good forward younger than 30 at age 28. But it would probably also not work for them cap wise.

But as a Leafs fan, a bit of dreaming should be allowed

Post what have been more practical if you had shown if Dallas can take on all that cap
Why trade Kerfoot when there is a cap and a now a forward need

That is a fair question I think. I would prefer a Kerfoot upgrade with a similar cap hit. But I am acutally quite bad in evaluating his value. So I just wanted to leave that up for discussion

As a DAL fan I'd decline that pretty fast.

We're in no position to move Heiskanen.

Smh... again, we don’t need Dermott or Muzzin back. We need you to take salary back so we can get under the salary cap. Toronto fans... ugh (no offense intended towards the few decent Toronto fans on here)

that is probably true. I think the Benn contract is unmovable, I would probably take one of the other bad contracts in that deal

I truly understand here the dream to get Miro on your team. This kid is A M A Z I N G and a joy to watch. But his departure would create a hole the size of Grand Canyon for the Stars.

If you want to trade for a decent D with the Stars, you should try to construct something around players like Lindell, Johns, Oleksiak and prospect besides Harley. You should also try to give us someone that would help us in our secondary scoring. Offense is a major problem in Dallas but I believe that this could be adressed with a new coach and some tweaking on the second line since we have young studs in Hintz and Gurianov that will continue to improve.

A player in the caliber of Nyquist if you need an example.

Heiskanen is in untouchable territory imo. Young, elite skating, puck moving defenceman that put up points are extremely rare and those are guys you build a team around. He's in the same category as Makar, Q Hughes, Dahlin, etc. Marner is good but nobody is trading any of those guys for a winger.

I think he's better than Hughes, Makar would be a bit much for me at this point but yeah he's unreal. My point though was that no team is trading that type of defenceman for a winger.

I would make this trade in a heartbeat as a Leafs fan.

I doubt Dallas would though. The Stars cannot take on that cap either so... that makes it even more unrealistic.

Would you add one of the bad contracts as well in return to make it work? (assuming the Stars would say yes)

I don’t think Marner has anywhere near as much value as you think. In a flat cap world, there won’t be many teams, if any, that will have interest in taking on that bloated contract. So if Toronto wants to move him, they are going to have to sell low. How about Marner to CBJ for Anderson, Savard, Texier & 2021 1st?

I just don't see any reason for Dallas to consider trading Heiskanen. He is a legit star in the making. Why move off of a player like that? It just doesn't make sense to me. Those are the kinds of guys that you build around.

Hmm. I cannot really judge the value here, but I think the Leafs would have too many bodies like that. They would need to get rid of some guys

I know. This is why would not hesitate for a second to throw guy like Marner, Dermott and some more names into a trade smile). But I think you are right

He can play on the right side as well. He did that when paired with Lindell.

A lot of players can. Many winger or Ds used to play a lot on the "wrong" side, as junior teams cannot rellly construct a roster with enough lefties and righties, as percentage wise way more players shoot left.

I also know quite a few that actually prefer playing on the "wrong" side

Didn’t know he had any nhlr experience in the right. My main concern would be is he as effective? The fact that he is an ofd is also a bit of an issue. Would certainly not pair him with Rielly.

You can pair him with anyone and he'd be successful.

Consider his current reputation and add it with the fact that he has played most of his NHL career with Roman f*cking Polak.

This is why I would put him ahead of Makar or Quinn. He can play both sides and is acutally a better defender than point producer. Saying that, his point production is actually very good
