I don't see Hall as a fit in St. Louis, I think he'd fit in with Dallas though.

Dunn doesn’t have arbitration rights so he has no leverage

You have this backwards, 1 year of Backes cost Boston a 1st to move. Give Ottawa your first and they might consider

So you think Backes, who couldn’t crack an NHL roster is the same as Bozak whose a slightly overpaid competent 3C for a Cup team??

Ok

Ok. I can think of teams who would want to OS Sergachev. It doesn’t mean it’s going to happen.

I don't think Kostin is worth passing on a pick in the top 15-20. I like him, but I think there are still going to be players with Star power available in that range. I just don't kostin as being more than just good.

I think you are out for lunch if you think any team would offer a 1st for an overpaid 3C (your own words). You would be lucky to get a 3rd

Why do you insist on focusing on Bozak? It’s not Bozak whose value is returning the 1st, it’s Kostin. I’m not sure if you’re reading at this point.

It’s debatable but I don’t think “star power” is available in that 1st round range of any draft unless a team gets pretty lucky and hits on a gem.

Ok first Kostin is 21 with 4 NHL games, he is currently projected as a middle 6 forward but probably 3rd line. He will not be returning a 1st especially when you are using him as a cap sweetener for a cap dump. If you want an idea, Teuvo Teravainen was traded as a sweetener for Chicago to move Bickell (who was a slightly overpaid competent 3LW for a Cup team). In return Chicago received a mid 2nd and a late 3rd. Now if you think Kostin has the same value as Turbo then sure you can maybe get a 2nd and a 3rd, otherwise probably just a 3rd

I know Kostin was a late 1st....but you haven't done anything with him. 3 years in the AHL and nothing.

Haha everyone knew Chicago was giving up way too much when that trade happened. You don’t get to cherry pick a bad deal to validate a warped value of a future trade.

Yes, you can try sometimes to gauge value based on previous trades but every single deal is different. The Blues got Hull for Rob Ramage and Rick Wamsley. That doesn’t mean I’m trading Allen + Barbashev for Panarin.

That’s not the most accurate portrayal of Kostin. He’s been in the AHL for 3 years because he had to be there as an 18 year old due to international rules. He will be in the NHL next season and might see action in these upcoming playoffs.

Turbo was the cost for being cap compliant, the exact thing you are trying to do here. How do you not understand that? Regardless of it looking like a bad deal now, there was probably no other option at the time, I'm not sure how I'm cherry picking when I gave you probably the most recent example of a sweetener deal for a 1 year cap dump. If I wanted to cherry pick I would say the Marleau trade, but I didn't. You just cant admit you are way off the mark with your value so you are denying any proof I provide and saying it's outlandish.

let me be clear on this for you.
The AHL allows the greatest level of player development any player can get outside the NHL. Mainly because it's the NHL's people doing those things.
Not the CHL, not a euro league, not the NCAA. The NHL.

It should not take a player 3 years to develop there, even at 18.
They have good facilities to gain strength, strength coaches, dietary help......the works.
Which is why so many teams send their young players there before entering in the NHL. But the reality is, most of those players may go there for 6 months, to a year before entering into the NHL. Not 3 years.
And spare me an age thing because it's not an age issue. 3 years of pro level coaching. And you haven't done anything with him. You let him sit.
It's not even a mark on the player at this point. It's the team itself killing their value.

If you look at the players available in that range, there is definitely star potential there. Gunler, Jarvis, Mercer, Zary, Perrault. There are plenty of players with that level upside.
