I disagree, when he was asked to take a more defensive approach he took a step back. He's still got a lot to learn. He's still supremely talented but unless he has hardware in his cabinet he is not a 10 million dollar dman, only the 3rd behind Doughty and Karlsson. He is not at the level they were at when they signed those

The league has shifted drastically in the way money gets doled out. The Karlsson/Doughty contracts were bad the day they were signed. Player's - especially elite player - are getting paid for what they are expected to accomplish throughout their prime, not what they accomplished in the past.

the doughty and karlsson contracts are exactly what happens when you overpay late in a career vs early in a career. if dahlin says he is willing to sign for 8 years to give us all of his 20s, i sign up almost without asking what the price is.

Well that is a pretty dumb way to do contracts. It is actually dumbest way to do contracts that Ive heard....ever.

Aside from the obvious hyperbole in his statement, that is the way contracts are being/should be done.

I think you are correct with the contracts for both Rasmus and Henri.
In fact, after watching Henri he may get even more than $6,000,000/yr for 8 years.
I think you are correct with your young defense, but I would rather try to land Hanifin for Montour than Tuch.
IMO Mittelstadt or Thompson or both to be among the top 6 in two years so Tuch will not be needed.
Mittelstadt is hardly a bust, and Thompson has performed really well in Rochester.
I think you have a similar vision as I, the pieces are there we just need to watch them grow instead of trading away current assets for a quick fix.
Very good post, very good prognostication, very good judge of the prospects talent.

Yes, contracts should be done by giving the player whatever they want. There is nooooooo idiocy behind that method at all.
