The Sabres are giving up Reinhart who is not that far behind Couturier and 3 years younger and may cost 2 mill more for similar production while Couturier exploded out of nowhere then started trending down this year again

Skinner contract is a disaster and was when he signed it. Coming off a 40 goal season and UFA he was worth 7AAV not 9. I dont think Couturier is trending down still on pace for 70 pts per 82 but that does not equal Rrinhart plus a first. Reinhart has proven to be a much better player than Couturier was at this point in his career and will likely be on par or just below where Couturier is now for many a few more years moving forward than Couturier will

Let us take a look at the totals for two centers since 2015-16 season:
A: 354 Games, 337 Points (137G, 200A) -60 +/- 216 EVP 118 PPP
B: 360 Games, 284 Points (111G, 173A) 77 +/- 228 EVP 53 PPP
Please tell me which is worth double the other because I don't see it. If you want more numbers, the advance stats wont make the case any stronger.

I will admit that Eichel is a more dynamic player and understand that he was the only thing going for Buffalo for his first few years, but to say he is worth 2x Couturier is wishful thinking (especially since 2x the cap hit would be <9million).

TL;DR: 2x Couturier > Eichel > Couturier

Eichel point shares are significantly higher than Couturier and Jack is obviously much younger. Reinhart is not far off theirs the data. Just cause someone bows to your opinion doesnt make them smart, I'd currently think the opposite of them.

Couturier couldnt carry a team to relevance like Eichel can/has. The Sabres dont have a Giroux. They have a Voracek, but they dont have a 2C like Hayes or depth like Laughton

The Sabres drafted in the top 10 every year since 2012, so there should be other talent there to support Eichel... but the real issue is the team isn't relevant on the national stage. Nobody out of market tunes in to watch him on a nightly basis.

The Buffalo Market is stronger than almost all of the other markets. We're almost always top 3 in viewership. for the NHL not just the Sabres. Even after a decade of losing

Then apply that logic to Skinner and whatever point youre trying to make is invalid anyway

Love the diehard fans in the Buffalo area keeping the team alive and I respect their passion for the game. My point is as a fan of another team looking for the second game to watch, I am not often landing on the Sabres game.
