I think the trade is pretty well balanced, but for the sake of discussion is there a way of reducing the term issue from Toronto's perspective? Would it appease them if they got an additional pick or prospect?
Leafs wanted Manson this year, there was no question about it, but it wasn't for Nylander, who's contract and term now looks great. You are also adding an additional question mark in Rakell. Not that he's a good player, but how he fits into a forward group that will likely include Nicholas Robertson in 2020-21. If there was a way to get Graves from COL and Manson from ANA, leaving out any forwards, I think the Leafs would make that deal no question, Graves comes with a lot of control. It shouldn't matter that he's left-handed when he can handle big minutes and plays a rougher more defensive game like really only Muzzin offers this group. Plus seeing Graves and Manson on a potential line would be ridiculous as far as shut down goes. I also think as a bottom-6 guy that plays defensive-minded minutes, the Leafs would also be interested in Carter Rowney. So let's try to re-work this deal a little. I am sure all Colorado fans will be up in arms about this, but oh well :P
