I'll gamble on Gambrells upside over Hinostrozas.
A back up goalie who is very good, but older and the yotes want to move to clear cap space. Sorry but I think Raanta for the Colorado 2nd will be all that i could agree to here.

Think almost all SJ fans are dumping Gambrell every time they get the chance. He has very low value. But if he's an issue he can be changed to either Kellman or Suomela, frankly any player that can take the 4C role.

Raanta for COL 2nd and Hino for that depth player+3rd seems more than fair to me.

Obviously he cares about money, but he has to care also about the fact that they need to get under the salary cap minimum.

Player like Stepan with minimal actual salary but high cap hit is ideal in this way. And that was the whole point.

They will have no issue getting to the floor. They have only players under contract and less than 19 million needed to get to the floor. They have three RFA's that will eat up half of that and then they can fill the other 10-11 roster spots with ELC's league minimum and be at the floor.

Harley, Dellandrea, Robertson, Heiskanen and Oettinger. 5 players with NHL potential out of the 25 players picked in between 2016-2019.

I'm not exactly satisfied with that.

I was talking about the last 3 draft and improvement. In those, Nill & Co picked up 18 players. The 5 players that you named were part of those last 3 draft. So, it's a ratio of 5 on 18 or 28%. Not bad.

Also, Stars drafted 6 players in the first and second round from 2017 to 2019 which are the rounds where you are picking up most of the future NHL players. Since the players that you named were drafted in those rounds, the ratio jump to 5 on 6, or 83%.

There is much improvement here. Stars' fans need to forget the Barzal disastersmile

They will reach the floor, but I wouldn't say it's as easy as you put it.

Not sure Goose is worth a second rounder. Even with you taking a contract back. Maybe at the trade deadline but not now when you’re trying to clear out salary. Would you do Goose and Dvorak for Faksa, Cogliano, and our 2021 first round pick? Cogs’ contract is very buyout friendly if you want to clear more space and Fox should sign for around 3 million. You get a stud 3C and we get a guy with more offensive upside

Edit: Just realized this was you boss. Question still applies but I worded it like I was talking to a Zona fan lol

Nah, think Dvorak's worth too much for ARI, but it's an interesting idea.

If he ever did find himself in the bottom six I’d certainly hope Nill would be calling. Love me some Dvorak

I mean 14 players 19 million that only averages to about 1.35 per player. That should be pretty easy considering Tierney and brown with both get in the 3 to 4 aav range on low offers. The rest of the contracts then average out to around 1 million AAV you can't pay players much less than that

No they had 6 picks in the first and second round:

2017: Miro, Oettinger, Robertson (2nd)
2018: Dellandrea, Eriksson (2nd)
2019: Harley and no second round pick that went to the Rangers for Zuch

I guess what I'm saying is yes interested in raanta for col 2nd but just not interested in Hinostroza. I think Sharks would be better off keeping their 3rd and continue to develop the guys you named.
I suspect Hinostroza is in line for a small pay increase I don't think the Sharks are really in a good spot to aquire a 3rd line player they have to pay 2 to 2.5 million a year.

Oh yeah.

Though Eriksson's bit of a question mark. His latest campaign was pretty bad.

Think Sharks would be very interested in Hinostroza. They really need cost controlled RWs and Hinostroza fits the bill.

I would think Sens would much rather have Tierney than Stepan. Under team control can sign to a team friendly deal like Dvorak in Az. I would probably take that deal on the Sabres end but the third may be a bit much. Maybe a fourth or lesser prospect

Short term yes. Tierney is more valuable for them. Long-term though that team is so filled with young centers they might very well consider dealing Tierney in exchange to a 2nd pair D - something they absolutely won't be doing with Gaborik, Hawryluk and 4th. Stepan takes that role for a year, until Norris is ready to fill his shoes. And they add Montour in the exchange.

Could very well be a win-win deal for all teams.

I disagree I like both players! I see hinos as a good middle 6 and at 26! I see him Return closer to last year than This year and we need RW depth bad and Raanta would play 40-50 games relegating Jones to a backup roll and gives us a year to groom Melnichuyk in the AHL
This is a plus trade for us!!!

Gambrel has value.... but not much we saw kellman and true pass him on the depth chart and I see him as easilybexpendable but still a capable 4 C with 3c upside.
We need cheap RW this trade adds one, we need a good 1B goalie who can start if jones falters.... again.... check we need to keep our top two picks this season and next .... check
I’m all on board!

Clear 1G and 3RW for a depth player, 2nd and 3rd.

No. We need the room hino would take up. I would give you the third for Ranta maybe but we need a top 6 player or a younger guy with potential to be. At 26 he’s pretty set as a 30 point guy which we can develop ourselves

Well then I guess we wont trade. When we can sign Khudobin or Greiss for free for less,When we can pay a second for Georgiev or a first for Murrary/Jarry why would we pay for Ranta? The goalie market is very for the buyers this year, so if you want goalie value its not coming.

First, Khudobin is very unlikely to hit free agency. DAL is not letting him go. He and Bishop have been such a valuable duo for us. Greiss might be an option, but if he's looking for a successful team to head to, SJ will not be his first option.

Also Raanta's better than both Georgiev and Murray... Granted the other two are long-term options though. But regardless 3rd for Raanta sounds f*cking asinine.
