1) acquiring Petro is free as he's UFA
2) Faulk's contract sucks ass. That deal is likely going to be one of the worst in the entire league in a while.

Dallas need to keep their picks and I do not think that Dallas needs another LD. It is covered by Miro, Lindell, Oleksiak and most probably by Harley next year. After that, you have 2 or 3 LD in the AHL that could play some games in the NHL.

I would keep that money for some help on the Top 6 for offensive purposes.

I'd pair him with Heiskanen. With one year left he'd be a good asset as he's easily the 4th best D of that team and doesn't have to be protected in the ED.

Furthermore, Jim Nill just can't f*cking draft prospects. DAL prospect pool is one of the thinnest in the entire league.

I could see the Sabres taking Stepan for an exchange of later picks. Sabres 6th for Az 4th if they cannot acquire a better 2C option

With one year left and him still being a decent 30+ point mid-6 option ARI is not in position in which they'd have to pay for moving him.

It's either Stepan for 4th or they'd look for other teams to trade it for. There's teams that'd like to have an asset not owed a lot of actual money, like Sens for example.
