Description
So not a card carrying member of the Sharks fan, but but I cheer for them when they're not playing the Wild. That said I don't know all the ins and outs of the team.

The Coyotes and Islanders trade are Ideas by @Ihaveajoner.
I like the idea of Georgiev and Strome to Rangers but I don't think the Rangers will actually move them.
I think the Oilers would be willing to move Jones and Puljujärvi rather than lose one of them to expansion for nothing, I may need to adjust the offer based on feedback but i thought i would start with this offer.
Jost is another player that could be lost to expansion so i think the Avalanche would be willing to deal. I think Jost could really improve if he has a change of scenery.

Please share your thoughts.

Unfortunately the 2020 draft will be a very boring one for the Sharks. I'm also planning for the Sharks to expose Burns in the ED, if nothing else it would probably motivate burns to except a trade to any team willing to take his contract.

@Nbl_oilers what needs to be added or are the Oilers just not interested?

Oilers are unlikely to move JP. Holland was clear since JP went to Finland that bring back to oilers is higher priority than trading. Realistically holland hasn’t had an opportunity to do so yet.

poolparty probably gets traded this offseason. While this next season determines whether the oilers want to keep jones or trade him before the Seattle draft

Jost is fine in his role and is good at it for the Avs, they pass big time.
Not selling his off for draft picks

He went through waivers last year so can't be too high.

If Jost were to get moved for picks Colorado could probably get a 2nd and 3rd in 2020, or at worst one pick in 2020 and one in 2021. Both picks being 2-3 drafts away aren't much help given that we're in our cup window right now. The natural thing to do would be to send us our 2020 2nd back (i.e. the one you used for Raanta), or to use the SJ 2020 2nd and a lesser secondary pick.

For a team thats very low on prospects were trading an awful lot of picks here. Probably not a sound plan.

Honestly we aren’t going to get full value for Puljujarvi, so a early second is fine. I would like to keep Jones also but we are probably going to lose him to Seattle, so maybe another second or a third. Tampa’s late first wouldn’t be bad either, but I doubt you guys would trade that much for Puljujarvi and Jones. I’m guessing Tampa’s first is going to be the 20-30 range so that would be a pretty nice return for Edmonton.

Agree with you on that. Unfortunately Sharks don't have a lot of enticing prospects to dangle. My hope would be to possibly trade off a vetran or two if Sharks fall out of contention next season. I think the threat of not protecting Burns in the expansion draft would make him open up what teams he would except a trade to. Ideally that trade would be paid out in draft picks.

A retool would involve moving at least 1 of your large oppressive contract

I was unaware there was a actual definition, but noted. Bigger problem is not a lot of buyers for these large contracts, especially with stagnant cap. Might be able to move burns at the trade deadline. If you want one of these big contracts please send a offer.

Bruns is probably going to end up in Seattle, Couture has a good amount of value still too as a playoff beast

Yeah Couture would probably fetch something nice but I doubt anyone offers Sharks anything back that they either have money for or that's better. I should look at it though. Burns I could see moving to a contender at the trade deadline even if the Sharks have to retaine some of his salary. If he isn't traded I would think Seattle would take him just to sell jerseys.

Well for Couture you take on a short term cap dump (no more than 3 years remaining) as well as higher end value pieces.
Vegas took Fleury from Pittsburgh when he had similar term and cap hit remaining. I think Burns makes sense there
