i would love Domi but i dont know about giving up our 2021 first to be honest. we could be either really good or really bad this year. to be totally honest i think we overperformed for a bit there with Elvis's streak so id be uncomfortable with giving up a first. i think CBJ fans are gonna tell you heck no for Peeke but with Struble included i think thats more fair

i feel it’s safer and more likely for montreal to try and offer sheet barzal.

The Islanders will match no matter what. Even if they have to jettison other players, they can not afford to lose thier 1C.

that’s probably true. but trying to offer sheet is probably easier than giving up your best prospects. idk.

what do you think lee is worth? i’m asking for a different armchair gm i’m doing. but idk too much about the islanders

I woudn't trade for Barzal, The habs don't need another inconsistent undersized player and it will take more than 8,750,000 to sign him. I would rather they offer sheet Dubois and offer him 9,500,000.

Lee is worth 7 mil if he can consistently pot in 25-30 goals over 5 of the 7 seasons. Problem is, they don't have a strong winger cast to take pressure off of him. They have Eberle and Beauvillier but that's about it.

I honestly don't think MTL should offersheet anyone. Keep your core and save up to extend Danault, Gallagher, Domi, Tatar, and Suzuki down the rkad.

Meant to say *road.
That's why when I post a realistic bridge option for Barzal given his inconsistency as well as the flat cap situation, I'm still baffled at all the offer sheet remarks.
On a side note, I don't get why they kept Julien.

For Kamenev Juulsen would be decent value, but I don't know if Juulsen is the right guy for us. He needs to stay in the NHL as he isn't waiver exempt anymore, but we don't have a space for him unless he's the 7D.

Fair trade for Columbus sure, but with Savard being a UFA at the end of next season that would leave Jones as the only RHD in the system who’s NHL caliber if Savard leaves and he probably will have to depending on his contract ask as that may be needed for Jones and Werenski’s extension. The only way colukbus could think about moving Peeke is if we get another RHD, who could play in the NHL in 2021/2022 back.

All in all, the trade is probably fair, but with the lack of picks Columbus has and the lack of prospects Columbus has, I don’t see them making this trade. Though Domi would be the perfect 2nd line center.

Is Juulsen fully healthy now? I thought his eye injury was career threatening but as long as he has no long term vision problems then I would make that trade

barzal kinda fell off without everyone paying attention to tavares and allowing barzal to fly under the radar. now the spotlight is on him and he’s honestly not living up to it.

A lot of that is adapting to the left wing lock more often than usual. Trotz wants to mold Barzal into a 200 ft player. Also, they're very low in efficient goal scoring wingers.

Which is why I think, for now, JP Barry tells Barzal that he should be on himself. Cap will be up by then. More talent will be on the team by then. More space will be shed by then. It's a win-win for JP and Barzal in this situation.
