So... Khaira is worth a 5th, but since your making us retain I would trade him for a 4th 1 for 1. No less.

Montour isn't worth the money IMO. He is a decent RHD but not an answer to what ails the Leafs by any stretch.

This is not a good trade for the Leafs not to mention that it leaves them in an even worse cap situation moving forward.

No thanks.

I do like Murphy, with Montuor and the way the Leafs play (Defense skates the puck out regularly with support from wingers) I'd prefer a puck handler with a good 2 way game which Montuor is , he struggled in Buffalo with the way Kruger runs his system Montour isn't really built for that style of team

Explain your motives?
Montour hasn't worked out in Buffalo, doesn't really fit the Kruger system, Kapenen does improve Buffalo's F group and can at up and down the line up - so what am I missing

Except I clearly made it work and presented options in the description if Cap space has value to you

montour for kapanen is fair and would help both teams.

some leafs fans think Kapanen is a super start waiting to happen, and it clouds their value of him.

the leafs could get a much better return for kappy. montour is not the hardcore stay at home defensive defenseman that the leafs are in need of. montour will also receive a ~4m contract this year and the leafs can not afford that.

1500 dollars in cap space with a 21 man roster is far from "making it work" in a cap perspective.

Like I said, this is not a good move for the Leafs. It just isn't.

Those "options" just weaken the depth even more.

The Dman you just described will struggle mightily in the leafs possession game - but sure they need a hard nosed stay at home Defensive Dman

Thats fine.

Montour would be a decent add if things were different with the salary cap. They aren't.

This is a lateral move that not only does not provide cap relief, it adds to the already existing cap problem.

Removing even more young and controllable centre depth to rely on aging veterans like Spezza to play up in the lineup without a backup plan just to find cap relief to a problem you've just created by trading for Montour isn't worth the risk and not a smart option IMO.

If I was to move Kerfoot, I'd be signing Johan Larsson to a 1.8-2.2 x 2/3 year deal and be rolling the bottom 6 C's of Larsson Spezza and Brooks which also gives space to leave Marincin and Korshvov on the roster for a 23 man roster

Those 3 C's would be combining for a grand total of 10-14 mins a night - I'm paying 2 race horses 11 million each to play 25 mins each

Like I said.... Bottom six becomes much weaker. Centre depth becomes weaker and more uncertain. D may improve moderately but, the cap space left does not justify the moves.

Too many unknowns. Not juice just isn't worth the squeeze.

There will be a cap move for sure.

The team has better internal options over this in regards to the D IMO. (And much cheaper ones).
