Nylander to New Jersey

Créé par: aadoyle
Équipe: 2020-21 Maple Leafs de Toronto
Date de création initiale: 5 juin 2020
Publié: 5 juill. 2020
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
This wont happen unless Dubas decides this team needs to get better and starts cutting heads. But its not a bad offer if u think about it. Foote could become the next Nylander, Boqvist the next Hyman and Walsh could be the RD the leafs need in a few years.

Now as for future the plan is simple

1. Johnsson goes to seattle freeing 3.4mill in cap space

2. Hyman takes a 3.5mill 6 year deal as its team friendly and he gets his money.

3. Freddie signs a 3 year 5-6 mill deal he wants more money or term goodbye cause at 33 aint worth keeping him for long. This short term deal allows for either Scott or Woll to get some more development time in and see if either will be ready for a starting role.

4. As for the prospects between 2022-2025 we see how they do and bring them up to replace players who leave.

NOW REMEMBER THIS MAY OR MAY NOT HAPPEN SO DONT GET MAD ABOUT IT, BUT IF IT DID THE VALUE IS FAIR

Nylander is not being traded... unless a team was stupid enough to offer a package like this... and no GM would be that dumb.

Nylander out of the big 4 is the most likely to be moved. 31 goals and making 6.9 mill thats a steal and teams will pay big for him. In general if the leafs continue to not have playoff success Dubas may decide to set an example and move him.

In general Its a small price to pay for New Jersey but they get a very good RW to play with either Hughes or Hischer. Already had confirmation by Nj fans they would accept that price for him as sure its risky but with his skillset their rebuild will go much quicker.

As a devils fan, I would absolutely never do this. That's giving up way too much. We have more holes now then when we started.

Nylander is valuable, but that trade is ridiculously bad for the Devils.

Also Hyman taking a 3,5 mil deal for 6 years is probably even more ridiculous than this trade.

None of the top 6 are more or less likely to be traded. Because they aren’t being traded.

Hyman Matthews marner tavares nylander Mikheyev Rielly and muzzin will all be leafs next year.

Hyman wont be asking for much money, he made it clear in numerous interviews he does not care for the money, he cares about playing with the leafs and he wants to do it for a long time. Look at his original deal 2.25 for 4 years at the time that was insane. Easily see him taking 3.5 mill for 5-6 years

It’s a weird contract for sure. I think Hyman will be re signed on a very fair deal though.

I'd see that as a discount deal, so now he should get paid.

I mean, if he can keep up this 60 point pace even a $5,5M deal would be relatively cheap considering how much bang you'd get for your buck. $3,5M is just wishful thinking of the highest order.

If he can keep his current pace, even $5M is more than fair for him, really.

$3,5M is a joke.

As said before he does not care for the money he cares about playing hockey with the leafs. He is the guy who takes a team friendly deal and 3.5 is what he most likely signs for. Many players have taken discount deals and have done better

I see 3.5 for 5-6 years cause in general his last contract was a strange one.

2.25 for 4 years after a 28 point season normally someone who wanted money would have signed that price for 2 years but Hyman took an extra 2 to stay longer with the team

Overall out of everybody on the team next to Sandin, I see him taking a team friendly deal that sports people will be going wow on.

Not necessarily, If toronto Loses to Columbus, Shanahan may decide enough is enough and let Dubas know he wants results, 4 first round exits in a row is not a good image for a team wanting a cup.

This leaves Dubas with 2 options, trade some small players for as much value as possible, or move one of the big 4 for cap space and depth.

Cause lets face it if Toronto continues to not have playoff success I see Dubas gone by 2021.

This is both too much and not enough for Nylander.

If Nylander ever goes (he shouldn't), a player with a similar elite potential must come back the other way. No more Kessel trades.

And there's a lot of uncertainty about whether the two prospects Boqvist and Foote will stay in the NHL. The 1st round pick is interesting, but not what the Leafs need in the short term.

Meanwhile, the Devils really need to keep these prospects more than the Leafs.

I was thinking with the 1st the leafs draft Braden Schneider.
As for the rest, I feel Nylander going to the devils speeds up the rebuild

they got palmeri, Hughes, Zacha, Hischer, and Bratt him coming in makes the top 2 lines
Bratt-Hischer-Nylander
Wood-Hughes-Palmeri
that aint bad and with time that could develop into something deadly. In general its a gamble for both sides but could potentially pay off well for both in the end.

Schneider is an interesting idea. The kind of defenseman we need, though not the kind Dubas seems to be looking for.

One trade I would consider is Nylander for Drysdale (say via Ottawa). Because I am certain Drysdale will be a top pairing RHD, unless he gets hit by a train or something. And because he has the skating ability for modern NHL, while being able to defend. So he'd fit in Dubas-Keefe's system while really helping the team. But even that kind of trade would be contentious, and losing Nylander would hurt us.

main issue is hes a first rounder and we dont got a 1st anymore lul. Thanks Marleau jk u were great and we miss u

I dont know if Ottawa would do that as but if they offered the 5th and Drysdale was available sure. But I have a feeling detroit is taking him at 4

Andersen is garbage and absolutely should not be resigned! If anything they should trade Andersen this offseason and try to get some kind of return

That's too much for NJ to part with. Give up the likely middle of the three 1st Rd picks (ARI likely #11 or #12), 2021 2nd Rd, Foote or Kuokkanen, and Butcher or Severson.

The thing with the vancouver pick is it could go down depending on how far they go in the playoffs. It could become a 20th-last pick if they win the cup. I chose it for that very reason as the Arizona pick would have been robbery

I like Nylander, would love him in Jersey but that's a bit of an overpayment from NJD. If you take out Boqvist it's close and I would probably do it actually, we just can't afford to give up 3 of our better prospects + a 1st + a top 4 D

He’s a grinder, a very good one, maybe one of the best in the league but relies on the talent around him.

At 5m he would no longer be a Leaf. I think being a leaf is much more important to him. I think if leafs were to offer him an 8 year deal he would be happy. Hyman has reaped the benefits of the market in Toronto.

I agree, the draft needs to sort itself out.
