As much as I would like Hertl in Buffalo, a deal with Cozens in it is an direct no.

      Sabres fan here

I’m gonna break this trade down into parts,
      Bc there’s so many pieces

Giving u Tage Thompson to take Okposo...
      it’s possible

      Hertl for the 2020 1st...
      Not a chance
Our 2020 1st is almost untouchable
MAYBE if Hertl wasn’t coming off an injury, and MAYBE if he could be extended like u say... but he can’t
An extension with him can’t happen till AFTER the ‘20-‘21 season bud
So we can’t give up a talent in the top10 this year for a guy who could walk in 2yrs
It’s just too risky for us

That leaves Cozens for LeBanc & a couple mid round picks
U could get Mittelstadt for that MAYBE, (i wouldn’t though),
      but definitely not Cozens.
      No way dude
He’s too big a part of our future here

That's an interesting take. Hertl for the 8th overall is a no-brainer from Sabres if they want to compete...the chances of that 8th overall becoming as good as Hertl are slim. He's a 25-year-old #1 center on a great contract.

If I am DW, I'm asking for the 8th overall + Cozens for Hertl. Buffalo certainly might reject that move as being bad in the long-term, but they are giving up years of Eichel's prime...

Except he’s not 25, he’s turning 27 before next season starts
      And it’s not a great contract, as he’s a UFA in 2yrs

There’s not a chance in hell the Sabres would move both of those pieces for Hertl, and unlikely for even 1 of them
He’s coming off an injury too

And he’ll be 29 looking for an 8yr deal on his next contract,
and that’s IF he doesn’t walk from us to be a free agent

Good player, but not a good fit bc of all the risk & high pricetag to get him & re-sign him (if even willing)

I’m glad buffalo walks we keep our pieces let buffal squander Eichel and force him to demand a trade in 1 or 2

Yes, but they can trade Eichel for some nice futures. They can use those pieces to rebuild, and hopefully, with some luck, get Eichel 2.0 out of it. But then, they won't want to make a trade for secondary pieces so that superstar player will demand a trade. They can then trade that player for some nice futures. They can use those pieces to rebuild, and hopefully, with some luck, get Eichel 3.0 out of it. But then, they won't want to make a trade for secondary pieces so that superstar player will demand a trade....you can fill in the rest.

Replace Cozens with Mittelatadt. That’s way too much for Buffalo to give up.
