Even this modest construction shows that Toronto has to move one of Johnsson, Kerfoot or Kapanen just to stay in place. With the wealth of left-handed forwards in the system, my vote would be for Johnsson, but his trade value is probably at a low.

More likely the 2 or 3 of the IR bubble boys (less than 1 million) will make the team and me adding Cliffy is something Dubas would probably do, only if Cliffy shows value in the playoffs (most King fans said no, but...fans miss the point, Cliffy sitting on the bench ready and willing to stir trouble keeps opposing teams honest and on alert).

One of the 3 million 3rd liners will get traded which will create cap space.

I dont want Dubas to resign Clifford at all, let alone at above league minimum, let alone at the cost of downgrading from a 2nd rounder to a 3rd

While there is value in guys like Reaves and Clifford on your 4th line as they are not just coca-cola machines, you shouldn't overpay them.

Clifford will find a GM to pay him almost equal to the 1.6 he got last year.

If Reeves got 1.75 and Carrier got 1.4 and Archibald got 1.5, why be surprised by Clifford getting 1+.
