Description
Don't know what pick Boston will have, but I just tried to go within the general area of where prospects might fall to the late second round. Biggest need I'd like them to address is more depth at the right handed defensive position. Bruins have a ton of left handed defenseman, it's time to think about more right shot players.

I also believe the depth at the right wing position is weak. One pick won't solve that problem, but it would definitely help.

FORWARDS
1) Dylan Peterson-#43 NA Skater- 6'4 192lbs right handed Center. power forward, in your face player. Committed to Boston University.
2) Oliver Suni- 6'2 190lbs two way winger. Finnish
3) Luke Evangelista-#39 NA Skater- 5'11 RW offensive playmaker.
4) Brandon Coe- #35 NA Skater- 6'4 190lbs RW. Said to have talent of a first rounder, however he can't stay consistent or doesn't show up often
5) Maxim Groshev-#25 EU Skater- 6'2 194lbs RW/LW left shot. two way winger from Russia
6) Theodor Niederbach-#19 EU Skater- 5'11 172lbs right shot two way center. has good offensive instincts and also displays a ton of grit and energy

My Pick: Dylan Peterson or Theodor Niederbach (unlikely he falls to Boston's pick)
DEFENSE
1) Eamon Powell- #51 NA Central scouting- puck moving minded right shot defender. committed to Boston College
2) Michael Benning- #57 NA Skater- right shot defender, two way. undersized at 5'9 but Bruins love their shorter dmen
3) Jack Thompson-#60 NA Skater- 6'1 right shot dman who is a two way guy, but more than likely is going to turn out to be more of a defensive minded dman at the pro level. He's gotta get stronger
4) Thimo Nickl- #74 NA Skater- right shot 6'3 190lbs defender. shutdown guy
5) Ian Moore- #47 NA Skater- right shot 6'2 170 lbs. MA native and committed to Harvard. Don't know if he'll fall to Boston
6) Mitchell Miller- #49 NA Skater- 5'11 190lbs right shot dman. puck moving and provides some physical play
7) Michael Krutil- #27 EU Skater- right shot two way dman at 6'1 190lbs. Czech Republican

My pick: Ian Moore

Based on Boston's recent draft picks, they prefer the two way forwards. I believe Dylan Peterson checks all the boxes who offers size, two way play, underrated offense, and as a bonus he's commited to BU. If he falls to Boston, I think this is the guy who they're taking

Awesome. I love when people have detailed descriptions offering insight like this. Helps the entire community learn a little extra. Jack Thompson is a guy I was looking up yesterday. Seems like he could be a stable reliable option.

I would be shocked to see Ottawa pass on Peterson 4 times in the 2nd. He checks so many of their boxes it's insane. Big American Centre with ties to the city of Ottawa. Two way player who competes hard. He's committed to the NCAA, but his rights are owned by the 67's. All he's missing is a former NHL player as a father and you'd basically have Sens prospect bingo.

I don't necessarily want him, but with four 2nds I would be willing to put a significant amount of money on the Sens taking him.

haha I wouldn't doubt it. He's definitely a guy I'd love on the Bruins. Based on the Bruins picks with Frederic and Beecher, this guy is a similar player to them which is why I think they'd take him if he's there (which could be a stretch). Unless Boston takes a different approach

Yup Jack Thompson was a guy who seemed intriguing to me as well. It was honestly a coin flip to me between Ian Moore and Jack Thompson. Even though I like an offesnive guy like Eamon Powell, it'd be nice to see Boston address a more defensive stable right handed dman with their pick due to having a decent amount of puck moving left shot dmen

Later picks I will always lean towards stable d over offensive. It’s a crap shoot might as well pick the one that at least understands his position.

I like Sam Colangelo as a Bruin. Big bodied, Power RW with grit and a good work ethic in all 3 zones. Good acceleration, but not amazing top speed. Plus he's a local kid from Massachusetts.

Move up somehow and grab Tyson Foerster. Stud!

He’s moved up so the Bs would need to get creative.

If I was vegas I’d only want any of the dman Listed because like Toronto and boston(sorta) we need a Prospect RHD(Hard)
I think Boston Should Pick Up Mitchell Miller if they can, This is who I want Vegas to select

Mitchell Miller seems pretty intriguing. Looks to be a big size kid who probably needs to gain some extra pounds and will more than likely be a shutdown guy. To be honest, I just didn’t know much about him and the rankings suggests he’s around a 3rd round projection. However, Boston tends to go off the board with some of their picks so if they like a certain player, they’ll take the guy way before the projection

EDIT- my mistake! I thought you were talking about ian Moore for some reason haha. But yes the puck moving ability along with some thickness to his game is also intriguing for Mitchell Miller. 5’11 and 190lbs already is a thick young man

I think the more pressing need is RW. Now it’s unlikely that the Bruins find a RW prospect in the draft who could step in after a season or two but with really only kuhlman and senyshyn in line they need to find someone. I would put RW over RHD only because mcavoy/Carlo are the established future and filling in that RD3 spot is very doable whether it be internally or externally. Clifton, Lauzon have both shown they can fill that role. We haven’t really seen much from kuhlman or senyshyn. Acquiring Kase helps the bruins if he can play up to his potential. Overall good write up, detailed and I learned about some second rounders I never would’ve heard about until draft night!

Thanks for the feedback! While I do agree RW is definitely a number one need I’d love for them to fill, I just don’t know how good of a RW you can find with the second round pick the bruins own. If they still had the first round pick, I’d say sure definitely draft a potential top 6 right shot forward. However if they draft a RW with the second rounder, it’s not going to crazily improve the depth.

It really depends which players will fall to that second round pick to really judge of what they should do. I just know that the bruins have pretty much zero RHD prospects after trading away Axel Andersson. I know that #6 D could easily be filled in...for now...but we won’t know what this D core is going to look like in 3-4 years. They don’t need to get a top 4 RHD because Carlo and McAvoy are locks there for the next decade I presume. But more depth at RHD would be beneficial

I do like Peterson as a player and he ticks a lot of boxes but he kind of feels a little bit of more of the same in the system. Between Beecher and Hall it kind of feels like the B’s have covered athletic, big, two way centermen. But I do agree that he has a higher floor than most players in 2nd round and fits the bill as a bruins type of pick and if the B’s drafted him I would be happy. I like Ian Moore as well as Mitchell Miller if they go D. Evangelista is an interesting player as well, had a ton of even strength points and fits the need of a RW. Thanks for taking the time, good work!!

Would love him, his consistency is a little off but big bodied goal scorers with soft hands like him are hard to come by. If he fell it would be a gift for B’s.

I love everything about Sam especially since he’s also a Mass native. There’s only one reason why he didn’t make my list, simply because I’d be shocked if he fell to the bruins pick. Like you said that would be a pretty big gift!

I've been on the Peterson train for a few months and I still think he's the guy I'd like to see Boston grab if he's there. I also like Zayde Wisdom. Not overly tall at 5'10, but hes solid at 200lb. High energy guy, tough to move and solid around the front of the net (where he does a lot of his scoring). Scouts say his shot is NHL ready, but needs to work on his game to game consistency and skating. Both areas of development are things that can be easily fixed with the right organization.

Wisdom doesn't have the upside that Peterson has, but probably has the higher floor.

Would also feel the same way if Ozzy Wiesblatt fell as well. All in all good post, good conversation! Thanks for your research!
