The Leafs's big four of Tavares, Matthews, Marner and Nylander and Rielly on defence time has arrived and no team can match this fire power going forward.
They can stop it by playing defensively sound hockey. By playing physical and breaking down the Leafs one by one. Bruins, St. Louis, Islanders, Penguins, and Flyers are all teams that can beat the Leaf's that way. Take Matthews out of the lineup and there's a good chunk of your offense gone.
I don't understand how a Leafs fan can be so overconfident after getting beat in the 1st round by the same team 2 or 3 years in a row with a very similar roster.
Your "Big Four" takes up almost 50% of your cap and you lack quality defense after Muzzin and Holl as well as bottom 6 role players which are incredibly important to winning a Stanley Cup. In order to win a Stanley cup, your WHOLE team needs to be playing excellent hockey. That means not just your top 6, but your 3rd and 4th lines, your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd D pairs as well. Leafs are a great regular season team, yet they lacked quality in all those other areas. This is another reason why they fail in the post season.
Offense doesn't win you Stanley Cups. If you believe that, then you have many more years of disappointment ahead of you. Heart wins you Stanley Cups which the Leafs have little of. Their best players care more about double digit millions than the game itself.
