Description

Any Good Options for MTL for 1LD? Are we better off playing Romanov with Weber? I feel like MTL is missing a first paring offensive led handed defender and they’re set. I don’t really know who is available though. Any ideas. I think we are drafting a forward: either whoever falls from the top 8 (Rossi, Raymond, Holtz or Perfetti) or Jack Quinn if nobody falls. I love Lundell, but he doesn’t fit our needs right now. Also, I like Sanderson and all, but he doesn’t have enough upside to my liking. I wouldn’t pick him with a top 9 pick.

Nurse or Brodin would be perfect but the Habs probably won’t want to pay the price to get them. True number 1 D don’t get traded and are few and far between.

I like Domi but I don’t know if he fits with the Oilers since if Nurse goes it has to be for a winger for McDavid and I don’t think he is it.

The easiest to get would be Sergachev, since he's an RFA, and we could get him with 1st-2nd-3rd round picks.

I would draft Sanderson at 9. He would solve the problem, and we could argue about the fact that he's the best dman in the draft.

Hanifin isn't offensive enough, and probably plays with Petry and they become our 1st pairing. Weber can carry anyone, so Chiarot Mete or Romanov

I think that he may be gone by 9. If I am Bergevin I’m looking at Jarvis, Quinn, Sanderson or one of the players that drop from the top 8 (Raymond, Holtz, Rossi, Perfetti). Also, I don’t think that Sanderson has that high of an upside. He does remind me of Slavin though and that would be a really nice addition.

Ryan Murray would not be a bad option. Yes, he has history of nagging injuries, but averages 50 games per year, and when playing is very solid puck mover and A top pairing quality defender. He doesn’t have that high a salary or too long a term left, and would only cost a prospect and a 2nd or 3rd, IMO.

Whoever we draft at 9 will be very good. For me, Sanderson is a futur top2 dman. He fits perfectly in the style of the Habs (shutdown d) and Julien loves this type of player. If paired with a kind of Petry offensive dman, could create a deadly duo, since he is definetly the best defensive dman of his draft.
