It's the 11 million x 8 at 30 years old that is the problem. If LA were able to retain 2M a year for 8 years, I am sure the Leafs would jump on that.

The only way LA moves Doughty is if they are willing to take a ton of cap back or if the retain and still take cap back. Tbh I don’t see Doughty waiving to leave LA though, same with Kopitar.

Agree with this. I don’t see how L.A. would ever retain any significant amount on an 8 year contract though. It would have to be a trade where the Kings take back two or three bad contracts if they wanted to get good future pieces back. I’m thinking like Ladd and Boychuk from NYI.
