Idk man, Byfield is going to be fantastic but Laffy is like...unreal man. Best wing prospect in a while, IMO. No offense to Kakko, Laine, or any other high end wing prospects, but the last one that I thought was this good coming out of junior was Patrick Kane. And he's turned out to be alright. Basically what I'm saying is we know Byfield is going to be good, but Laffy is going to be a generational talent.

Would you Laffy for Byfield and Turcotte?

Honestly, no. Here's why. I'm a Minnesota Wild fan and we have only ever had Gaborik as our electric "gamebreaker." Byfield and Turcotte might become that but we don't know for sure. At worst they'll be good players but it's not 100% yet that they'll be stars. Laffy is almost a given. I would bank money on him being a perennial PPG player and he'll have multiple 100 pt seasons. That's how I feel about his talent.

The reason I brought up being a Wild fan is that I've been able to see the difference between our playoff teams, and the rest of the league. Since we've lacked that firepower in the gamebreaking fashion, we could never advance farther in the playoffs. We were solid defensively, we did get some good goaltending (not all the time but overall not bad), but if we got down it was very hard for us to come back. We had to play a perfect game to win. But if you got a player like Laffy to go along with Panarin, and Mika (and hopefully Kakko soon too), then if you get down you don't need to panic because these players have what it takes to get you back into it. Could you get that with Byfield and Turcotte? Sure, it's possible, but you really don't know for sure. With Laffy it's almost a given that he'll be that type of guy.

Sorry for the long explanation but I just wanted to show why whoever wins the #1 overall NEEDS to draft Laffy, and that it would be an absolute mistake to trade him.
