Tho Marner is better than Nylander and has insane chemistry with Matthews...

However the thing here is that Marner frees up more cap space than Willy so both are decent options

Nylander at 7M is much better value than Marner at 11M. There is only one right answer who to trade and its Marner.

Ottawa never makes that trade. Stutzle/Byfield + Raymond/Perfetti/Drysdale is better than just Lafreniere. Both Stutzle and Byfield have been said to have higher ceilings, they're just less NHL ready. The Sens could add two PPG players to their roster vs adding just one. It's been discussed before (a lot) and every time everybody agrees it's not remotely close to worth it.

Or you don't move anyone for at least 3 years. The depth this team would have upfront would be insurmountable. Imagine running Robertson with Laff and Kapanen on the 3rd line? You wouldn't need a 4th line and no one would be able to handle the offense. Even if you have 2 good lines, that 3rd line would destroy teams.

I think that would be the likeliest move, but it wouldn't even need to happen immediately. You could wait until his ELC is up and then decide what you want to do.

That trade us trash. A cap anchor for a franchise 1st overall. Just utter crap of a deal.

I am not sure I'd trade either. You could make them all fit for 3 years without much trouble and that would make the Leafs nearly impossible to defend against.

DET wouldn't accept that. DET probably doesn't have the loose ammo to make a trade work.

That's trash to be fair. You have a 4M$ anchor for six years (24M$ cap retention), a middle six center and Quinn/Rossi for an elite wigner (I remember they said the same about Daigle). The trade itself's bad but who do you put at 1RD? We already have a hole on 1LD so why not double down? You don't fix something by breaking something else.

I agree with you on that one. Laff I think will be the best player in the draft but I am not sure he's going to be as good as people think. I don't see him being in the same orbit as guys like McDavid, Matthews, Eichel and Petterson. Still a terrific player but not one of those just above the rest sort of super elite. Getting 2 guys who are closer to him makes more sense. It's like those clowns who think McDavid is worth Matthews and Marner. No he isn't one player does not do what two elite players do.

I don't get why you'd trade anyone? Just make it fit and be even more scary. Imagine having Laff and Robertson with Kap on the 3rd line? Even if you just ran Gauthier, Engvall and Barbarov on the 4th, that is still a decent line that you use to kill PK and give the other lines some time off when you are ahead 5-0 after the 1st period.

Sure, don’t trade Nylander then. My point was if leafs get Laf, they should keep him for sure.
