From what i can tell from an outside perspective, Edmonton has a RD problem, and a "James Neal problem" I've also heard that a lot of EDM fans are not a fan of Brodberg (at all), aand everyone knows about poolparty.
The way I see it, Burns for Neal and Broberg, while Pulijarvi for 2020 2nd.
Sharks need to free up cap space from D, and really need a 2nd pair Defensive RD (Justin frickin Braun again). Burns is the obvious choice to leave.
Lots of the problems with Vlasic really suggest that moving him away from Braun and out of a defensive role is what has been killing him, (look at his per60 stats with Braun vs Karlsson relative to competition, its a really glaring hole), not that he will ever get back to 15-16 god level, but make him a serviceable defenseman.
Saw the min trade earlier and thought that if MIN was willing to do that, SJ would probably be willing to attach some cursed 3rd round picks to them.
Bye Sorenson.
3rd line is completely new, I'm really big on sharks bringing in one of former arch enemies Nosek or Eakin, physical presence is much needed. Neal would be amazing on the 3rd (still bad contract), but perfect role, Pulijarvi is self explanatory.
think there are a lot of people who will be vying for that spot, and could easily see an off handed player taking it, though I see your point.
.
I agree but not in his rookie year. or maybe as a call up and have him work on his off handed game with the Baracuda. I personally like Meloche to start there. Homestly though that 3RHD spot is going to be Merkley’s at some point so anyone taking it this year, its going to be temporary. Ryan will definitely start in the AHL (i assume) but i can see him getting a cup of coffee with the sharks at some point next year unless his game goes to hell like Ivan’s did.
If im Edmonton I don't make that trade, Bouchard is coming up, Bear was good, Larsson has a year left and Benning is a good 3rd pair RHD, adding an aging Burns and his massive contract makes zero sense, Neal can stick around for another season before looking at a buyout and can't see them moving two controlled assets who were 1st round picks to move Neal and acquire Burns, it just doesn't make sense.
man this trade is stupid, you really think oilers are gonna trade for a dman whose on a terrible contract and is way past his prime while giving up a good young dman and poolparty and a cap dump. Man this is horrible
