Yeah agreed. Id take 3 forwards at the top this year, take a couple of Dmen in the 2nd round and then a Dman with our pick in 2021. Lots of intriguing options for D next year, Owen Power, Brandt Clarke, Ceulemans, Edvinsson

My counter/take-it-or-leave-it offer would be: Brodin and the Pittsburgh 1st for Strome and Chicago’s 2020 1st...and i would happily walk away knowing I (the Wild) still have one of the 10 best LHDs in the world.

For 1 year until he's a Ufa. Theres zero chance the Hawks trade that 2020 1st round pick. It alone is worth more than 1 year of Brodin. I agree Brodin is currently a more valuable player. The contract and cost controlled nature of Strome (a center) makes the 1 for 1 making sense.

As long as we lose the play in the hawks pick will be between 8th and 10th, with a chance at 1. Pittburghs will probably be late 20's. The difference in value from Strome to Brodin isn't worth a drop from say 9 to 26, and I think wild fans would agree with that. In a normal year it would take an additional 1st at least to move up those 17 spots. I would swap the hawks and minnesota 1sts (assuming both lose play in and neigther gets laf), but thats it. This draft is loaded, top 10 picks are going to be more valuable than ever this year. Strome, the 9th, and the CGY 3rd for Brodin and the 11th is the best offer the hawks should have, but realistically the origonal offer is more than fair. Top 4 LDH are valueable, but top 6 centers are even more valuable. Brodin is good, but he's not even a top 3 defenceman on his own team. Part of that speaks to the strength of the Minnesota D for sure, but part of that speaks to Brodin not being as elite as I think you're making him out to be.

Brodin is the best defenseman on the Wild, and one of the very best in the world.

We can argue about this trade all day long but the fact is, i would happily walk away from any trade involving Brodin where my demands aren’t met.
