Easy pass for Buffalo. Make it 2021 first and take out the second and then we think long and hard about it. No waySabres sign Oloffson to his RFA deal and then trade him. Nor would they retain on him

Why would Buffalo say no. They get a steal on a cap strapped Tampa.

Sergachev is by far the best player in this trade. I was thinking Jokihariju + 1st for him.

Olofsson (half retained) + 2nd for Cirelli.

Fine just stay out of the playoffs for the next 10 years and lose Eichel...

At least with this team I can see a clear path forward to the playoffs in 3 years.

Eichel and Cirelli down the middle is pretty solid.

Dahlin and Sergachev on the left side is insanely good.

Yep otherwise I wouldn't have written it in. They only allow you to retain up to 50% of their previous contract which in Olofsson's case is ELC.

We do not need to trade for Sergachev, of course it was cool to get a cheap price, but not at that price, we have Dahlin on the left side as our number #1 and many prospects. Cirelli is another matter, but I will not give up for him more than Mittelstadt + #8. Olofsson is our best sniper on PP, he played only one season and made a good shot. Jokiharju is our most promising RD, which has already made a name for itself and basically played well. So yes, Buffalo decline.

I don't think I trade 8 o/a by itself for Sergachev. These moves also put the Sabres over the cap and give them no ability to resign Fahlin as they would have 8 roster spots to fill with 10 million dollars in cap . Most of which Dahlin will eat up leaving you in the same position Tampa is in this year where you have to shed players and fill half of your roster with elc or league minimum players

Olofsson and Joki are pretty damn good plus 8 OA and a 2nd is too much. I agree Tampa’s players are better But I wouldn’t say the gap is astronomical and the first and second is too big of a price for buffalo to pay.

Mittelstadt + #8 doesn't get you Cirelli. The best player at 8 will probably be Holtz, Perfetti or Askarov and they won't be ready for 2-3 years.

Cirelli's gonna cost Cozens, or Oloffson/Reinhart with retained salary. They might also take Jokihariju if he has the 2021 1st top 10 protected thrown in.

Cirelli is 3 years younger than Olofsson, has the same number of points with less PP time and plays center.

Sergachev is even better than Cirelli. He's got the potential to be a top 5 D in the league.

You gotta give up something good to get something good.

Outside of Eichel and Dahlin I think everyone on the Sabres has to be considered for a trade.

LOL. Who do you think you're gonna get at 8o/a? Gretzky? Don't forget Mittelstadt was the 8th OA pick.

Sergachev is only 22 and already one of the best D in the league.

The gap is pretty huge.

Cirelli is 3 years younger than Oloffson, centering his own line and putting up similar numbers. Oloffson is playing with Eichel.

Sergachev is WAY better than Jokihariju. That's nothing against Jokihariju I see him as a good 2nd pairing defenceman. Sergachev's got the potential to be a top 10 D in the league.

I don’t think it helps buffalo though. We upgrade two positions, pay them more money and still have a giant black hole everywhere else on the roster.

Then it makes no sense to trade for Cirelli, abandoning the winger in top 6 and a young RD who could potentially become a good defender #2 or at least be great #3 - #4. In the league is full of other centers. This deal does not work for Buffalo. Although, in fact, some Tampa fans have already offered such a trade, if Rossi or Perfetti is still on the table: Mittelstadt + #8 for Cirelli + 2nd.

I did say it was a 3 year plan. It's gonna be hard to compete with Okposo on the team.

You're joking right? Why would Tampa want Mittelstadt? Make it Cozens + 2nd for Cirelli and they think about it.

If Rossi is still on the board they might do Cirelli for Rossi + 2nd.

The only way I see Cirelli moving for the 8th overall pick is if some of Tampa's players with NTC clauses waive them.

ex. Cirelli + Gourde for #8

We already have our future top 10 defenseman in Dahlin. Sergachev is an excellent player but I think if TB thought as you did they would have let Mcdonaugh walk and given Sergachev that role already

No, I'm not joking, because he is cheap and still the prospect is the same as PoolParty or Andersson. Cirelli may ask for a lot of money, maybe no one wants to give up his NTC, Sergachev and Cernak can ask for a lot of money, there are different options.

Agree. The team above has 6 players to protect in the expansion draft. And Skinner is only because his NMC. They are no better than this year and don't have a draft pick until the 4th round...
