How does NY need Cs when they're probably trading away their 2C this offseason

Strome isnt actually as good as they will want to tell you. They hype him up in trades but all want to be rid of him

Wrong narrative, that's an ousiders presumption. He has serious passing skills and learned how to play defensively, simple as that. Now he's trusted enough to play with Bread and he doesn't look out of place. In Fact, he was impressive, big, smart and involved. They did have old reliable Fast with them, but Strome and especially Bread are good defensively. Strome still occasionally does the ol' big man, end of shift, tired backcheck or line change. He seamlessly replaced Hayes at near ppg pace. His value is like JG Pageau. You don't have to like him. Cap is the reason, period! If we shed Hank, Staal, Smith we're still buried to our necks. I say we keep him and sell Buch.

Not an outsider's presumption - I'm a life-long Rangers fan and I want nothing more than to trade Strome for... well, anything. It's going to be a serious mistake signing him long-term. I do agree with trading Buch though.

This is correct lol. I'm hoping someone values Strome more than Gorton does this offseason so we can be rid of him. He's going to regress so hard next year.

I knew I was on to something

Normally I'd agree with this, but with wingers like Panarin, Kakko, Kreider, Gauthier, Chytil, and possibly Kravtsov (I'm omitting Buchnevich because I don't think he will be a Ranger for much longer), we need to address our glaring issues at C. Sure, Zibanejad has come into his own as a bona fide top-6 center, but after Z all we have is Strome (hopefully he will be traded in offseason because he had an anomalous year that will absolutely not be repeated... hoping Trouba also gets traded at some point), Chytil (who seems more apt to play wing), and Howden (fourth-line center at best). Trading down to get a guy like Byfield or Stutzle to be our number one or two center along with Zibanejad (not to mention getting a mid-first round pick as a result of trading down with Ottawa, in a draft that is being touted as one of the deepest ever) would make this team scary in years to come.

Look at this projection, considering that we steal Hendrix Lapierre with Ottawa's mid-round pick:
