If MN got 1oa they should take Byfield. Filling the hole of 1C that the team has had for it's existence is more important than adding another (even the BPA) winger.

Get the BPA when it's 1st overall. Screw need. Lafreniere is the savior that Wild fans have been looking for since inception.

The savior MN fans have been looking for is a 1C. Pre-injury young Koivu and old man Staal are the closest guys MN has had to a 1C.

Why? Fiala, Kaprizov, Boldy, Kunin, Greenway, Donato are all young wings; and Parise/Zucc are old, but here for years.

All MN has is JEE and Khovanov (a longshot imo) as young top-6 centers. It's why MTL fans are trying to shove Domi down MN's throat as a top-6 center, pick a Strome brother to MN, and OS Cirelli are common on here.

Centers have a bigger impact overall on the game compared to wings.

I could see a scenario where the Wild trade down to 2nd ova with the Kings for a haul and get Byfield instead.

However, if the Wild were to hypothetically take Laffy at 1st ova, it's not the end of the world.

While this team has an issue with an overabundance of LHS's/LW's, getting better depth at a position should never be an issue. We get Laffy, one of either Greenway or Donato gets moved, probably one of either Boldy or Beckman too.

Any of these guys will be packaged with one of Brodin/Dumba for a 1C/Top Six center. The Wild as a whole get a lot more lethal. Still need to address goaltending too.

So what you're saying is you'd rather have Eichel over McDavid in 2015 since Eichel fits our needs better (right shot forward). This is silly. You take Laf and don't look back. Byfield is a great prospect but Lafreniere is on a whole different level.

Why because the talking heads say so? The team needs centers and is already stacked on LWs. For most every other team in the league Laf should be a no-brainer pick. For MN positional getting the best center in the draft will do more for them.

It really doesn't matter TOR or EDM will get 1oa. I'm not hating on either of those teams I just think they have bad playin matchups. CBJ with a healthy team is scary and I think CHI can get EDM to panic.

I'm not disagreeing, we need centers more than anybody, but Lafreniere is the best forward prospect since Matthews and from what I've seen he's way better than Byfield. I just don't think it's smart to pass on a talent like that, regardless of position.

Well both are centers so it doesn't really fit the argument. The Yak/Chucky (what a bust that draft was) or Hall/Seguin drafts would be better, and I would take Chucky/Seguin over Yak/Hall. Or like last year I said MN should take Dach over both Hughes and Kakko if they won the lottery.

I mean your argument is drafting for need over talent, so I thought it was fitting. We need a right shot forward pretty badly, we've had a lot of issues scoring off the rush with left shot guys fumbling pucks.

And I meant it then, Hughes was the best forward prospect since Matthews, but Lafreniere is better.
