I don't see very many sabres fans making leafs/sabres trades.

Its mostly leafs fans or fans of other teams.

I don't think that valuation is unfair, just not sure about Johnsson after his injury. Also, I would rather move ristolainen or montour before miller (I am not saying moving those players to toronto)

Okay, but I wouldn’t call Miller/Montour 6th/7th defensemen either though. Miller especially I think could fit quite well in Toronto, for the right price of course.

The thinking behind trades for Kapanen is that he is stuck as a 3 RW on the Leafs behind Marner and Nylander.
The other GMs think "I can use him on our second line and get better production out of him"
So it seems logical to offer and 3rd pairing RD who could move up and be a 2nd pairing RD in Toronto

Certainly, but is he worth a Kapanen? Definitely not.

I like kk too but hes a 45 PT middle 6 winger , you're not getting a haul for him if you move him. Sure hes what 23, 24 he'll get better but how much better. Hes more speed than skill.

Kapanen will easily be on Buffalo’s first line. He can put up points, will stand up for his teammates, but the biggest thing about him is his speed.

Kapanen is overvalued by Leafs fans. Montour is overvalued by Sabres fans. Neither team is trading with each other. That is all I have to say.

There's a few ironic parts of your title about Buffalo fans not getting Kapanen for a 6th or 7th defenseman.

1. I don't even really see Buffalo fans requesting this.
2. If they did, Miller is not a 6th or 7th defenseman. You know better
3. If you believed he was a 6th or 7th defenseman, why do you want him?
4. You obviously don't really believe he's a 6th or 7th defenseman, you put him on your first pair after trading for him
5. Since you want him on your team and think he's top 4 quality, be fair in what you are offering.

I don't see Miller as that big of an "upgrade" over what the Leafs have right now TBH. I get the trading of Johnsson for cap purposes but this doesn't really qualify. This money out and more money in trade doesn't move the needle enough for me to see it as high value to the Leafs.

I've seen Hawks and Leafs fans alike on here saying Kapanen is worth Connor Murphy and I don't think Murphy is that much better than Miller. Just me though

It's hard to argue that Kap and Montour are not equal value or that Kap is worth more - considering Montours drop in play coincidentally happened when he arrived at the tire fire that is Buffalo - prior to Buffalo aquiring Montour there wasn't a leaf fan out there that wouldn't of Kapenen on a silver plater for Anaheim to get Montour

The idea that he is better than reinhart is hilarious. he would be a middle 6 guy in buffalo. or we could just sign jesper fast and not give up assets.

I actually perused "toronto maple leafs interested in brandon montour" on google and saw a lot of nylander speculation. granted this was after his hold out, but you get the idea.

Then he wouldn’t be traded. He’s a developed 1st round pick. He is fast gritty, scores big goals and has developed his puck possession. He’s a 20 goal scorer playing on the 3rd line. I think scouts would grade him on his skill not just results.
