Make the 2020 2nd a third and we accept.

Sabres decline then. Not trading our 4th highest scoring forward and retaining salary for a cap dump and a third round pick

I am doing that. In the event Buffalo wanted to retool things, or contract talks go poorly, if Reinhart were to be traded this is what I would do. I think it would benefit them.

It wouldn’t help us make the Playoffs THIS YEAR (20-21)
That’s obviously what they need to do
Shipping out your RW1 for depth & futures doesn’t do that

Our defense is already good & deep
We need a 2C & RW2
If we trade Reinhart...
WE STILL NEED THISE POSITIONS
No... Jost isn’t a 2C
No... we don’t wanna start Cozens at RW1, we want him at 3C

Plus, now we’d need a RW1 as well
The trade makes ZERO SENSE for the Sabres

And we aren’t trading our top RD for a 4C either
You CLEARLY HAVE NO IDEA about the Sabres needs & team makeup
Just stick to your AVs dude
Way off here... WAY OFF

Domi = Reinhart and that doesn't = Domi

you know what lets ask some colorado fans what they think

@moli92 @coga16 @Goavs141 what do you guys think?

Reinhart over Domi. Reinhart just has been more consistent...almost year in and year out you can count on a 50-55 point season. Domi has been more of a 40-45 point player vs his career high of 72 point season (Reinhart had a career high 65 point season as well)

splitting hairs....both are roughly 250pt career players. Reinhart 400 games, Domi 375, but Reinhart has 109 goals to Domi 81. He just edges him out slightly with the more of a consistent base line of 50 points with the higher goals total

I didn't think I could possibly look at the Sabres down the middle going into next year and feel like they could be in worse shape then they were last year. Then I saw this ACGM team ugh. Only 1 of those centers after Eichel belongs in the nhl at the start of next season and he should probably be playing third line RW

Domi also has very negative impacts in his own end, where as Reinhart is positive. And drives play better on offence.

I figured that was the case too, didnt want to dive to much into it. I feel thats why Reinhart in that 6.5m-7m range might happen. Domi I dont think makes that argument and will be more in the 6m range

Okay well the Sabres haven't had a balanced roster once in the last 10 years and I think this is the chance to do that. I don't care that they might not make the playoffs in 20-21. Jost has the floor of a 3C, he's proven there, let him go somewhere he can test his ceiling. Cozens won't be a centre in the NHL. Risto is not a top pairing D and is overpaid, go for upside with Borgstrom.

A guy you’re playing at 4C doesn’t have “upside” worth a RD who plays 20+ min a night

And the rest of this just continues to show your lack of understanding of the situation in Buffalo
Eichel is pissed
We need to make the playoffs
Taking away his linemate DOES NOT HELP

Right because I have him listed at 4C means that is the only spot he can ever play.
I do understand the situation and Eichel should be pissed, I am sharing on the website cap friendly.com what I would do from a roster building perspective.

To be what, a 3C?
You still don’t trade a RD who plays 20+ min a night for a guy who MIGHT become a 3C
You can get that for MUCH MUCH LESS

And again...
it’s not the value so much as it doesn’t meet the team needs to WIN NOW

That trade could look good in a couple years
But by then,
we’ll have continued to miss the playoffs & Eichel would definitely want out by then

So no... we just can’t trade Sam for that type of a return

And dude...
you CLEARLY don’t understand this team at all

-Cozens will play Center, Mittelstadt is moving to the wing most likely
-we’ve been gambling at the 2C spot since we traded O’Reilly,
there’s NO WAY we gamble again with Jost in that spot
-Olofsson plays LW, not RW (regardless of what this site says)
-Larsson & Girgensons were the KEY players on our defensive line that did quite well, they’ve already been offered contracts
-McCabe is our best defensive defenseman, not a “scratch”
-Pilut signed to play in the KHL
-Ullmark was fine, it’s Hutton that needs to be replaced

I'd rank Reinhart ahead of Domi but they are still pretty comparable players. There is some recency bias towards Reinhart since Domi had a down year but I think he'll bounce back to 60-70 points next season

The only thing is domi has been a 45 range player outside of the 1 70 point year. Reinhart has been a 55 point range player with a 65 point outlier season. There just seems to be a safer bet of a median point range with reinhart. Domi you need to see one more season, no clue what type of player he is yet

I agree they ate pretty equal, I'd give the edge for grit and in front of the net to Reinhart and speed to Domi, as a sabres fan I'd keep Reinhart but I'd say they are pretty close not quite a bit better. I'd say I cod see Reinhart becoming quite a bit better though.

Thats true. Reinhart is a safer bet. But Domi was also playing in ARZ's garbage offensive system for his first 3 years (but i guess you could say the same about Reinhart - he does get more offensive linemates though). In his 2 years with MTL he had 72pts and was on pace for 50pts this season. I think he averages out somewhere in the middle. For purposes of comparison he also gets over a minute less PP time per game and doesnt get the benefit of playing on Eichels wing so theres a lot more to look into. imo they would have pretty close offensive production if they were used in the same role and given the same opportunities
