Interesting comments. I think having a speedy scoring winger is being undervalued with a player like McDavid. Johnsson put up 20 in a 2nd-3rd line role in Toronto and has the speed to play at McDavid’s pace. The number of players in the league - who are available - is very limited. Kerfoot would give them a lot of versatility. RNH playing first line, Kerfoot can play with Draisaitl. Need a high quality 3rd line C, Kerfoot. Need speed - check. Giving up Bear and a prospect and/or a pick for a team that can do more a d can be configured to suit its opponent - that might be a price worth paying. I perhaps overreached with Lavoie + 1st - but a bird in hand. A prospect and a pick is two maybes verses two known commodities. Higher risk lowers values.
On trading Sandin - yes - he is a hell of a player. And will get better. But his value later may not be worth his asset value now if it moves them ahead of Boston. Hanging onto Sandin means leaving room after Dermott, Andersen, Campbell and Hyman resign (plus anyone else they bring in). Its going to be tighter than now. Sandin (and Lilijgren) likely mean losing one of the core (Nylander?). Sell now to get a win now player, or leave Sandin on 3rd pairing to slow his development?
Always interesting to see how others value things. But don’t undervalued Johnsson - he reminds me of Mike Gartner.
