They probably wouldnt have gotten Kakko in 2019 if this happened. They would also have to give up an asset to move up in the draft. They would probably be better than they are now but Its not reasonable to just drop pettersson into their current lineup and think that's how their team would be

Yeah maybe but I doubt it. With pettersson at nearly a point per game they are probably close to a playoff spot in 2019. Unless they got lucky in the draft lottery again they would probably pick outside the top 10

there is video released of Benning Mic'd up at the 2017 draft talking to other GMs about maybe moving down at that draft (can't remember with who though) then he heard that NYR was interested in Pettersson and called the other GM back and said no and kept the pick.

I doubt Pettersson boosted them that much, but even then: Boldy, York, Knight, Caufield, Newhook, Krebs, Harley, Thompson, McMicheal
