I think it would be a huge mistake for MTL to trade Suzuki...

If it takes any of those 3 assets to get him then MTL easily turns it down

Anyway the LD problem will be solved from the inside, no need to get a major long term for that

So its one of those 3 pieces? Im not so sure MTL would trade anyone of those for Brodin, unless it came with an extension.

Assume there is an extension for the purpose of evaluating these trade scenarios.

Yeah Montreal isn't dealing any of those pieces for Jonas Brodin, At best i see Bergevin moving Domi+ for Brodin but KK or Suzuki or Montreals 2020 1st round pick #8 Yeah none of those pieces are happening.

I did this to prove one thing: Most NHL fans have absolutely NO idea how good Jonas Brodin is. It took literally 5 minutes...

Habs have Romanov coming next year, so they have Romanov / Chiarot / Mete with Kulak as 7th D. It's solid on paper in my opinion.

They have Norlinder, Harris, and Stuble already in the system and they have a lot of picks to use this year. As @KakkoForMauriceRichardAward said, LD will be solved from the inside. Not a chance MTL considers giving up one of those assets for Brodin. I personally have no interest in Brodin to the habs whatsoever, but then again I'm probably more optimistic on our current D core than others. Habs need to see what they have in Romanov first. Mete is also only 21 or 22, he is a young Jared Spurgeon (already ahead of where Spurgeon was at his age).

I wouldn’t move brodin for any of those simply because if moving brodin I’d want a more established player coming back to really help the window to win now. Those are great pieces but realistic 2-3 years away from possibly having the impact I’d be wanting right away.

I think it could take 2 of those if an extension is in place.... But I think wild would want established player over youth in this case.

Hey, everyone's got their price. That's yours and that's fine. Guarantee you, not one team is paying that price of any one of those pieces if that is the case though. No matter how good you think Brodin is.

Frankly if he is that good, you shouldn't even be considering trading him in the first place. He's young enough to be included in any rebuild/retool and old enough to be a important part of a team trying to win now so trading him under this belief doesn't make sense. You really should just keep him because no one will give you what you are asking for.

Your argument fizzled at Chariot.

And that proves how many NHL fans don't know how good Chiarot has been this season. I mean he's no Ryan Suter in his prime but his physicality and surprising mobility have made him a key piece in MTL's defense. So far no one has fit better as Weber's partner in MTL, not even Markov.

Fair enough...i was making that statement based on his days with the Jets where he and his propensity to make horrible decisions with the puck was the Wild’s only chance to beat them!

It's not that we want to trade him, I'd say a very large majority of our fans would agree with that, but the fact is our center depth is just laughable. Staal likely doesn't have much left in the tank and Ek is promising but ultimately not more than a middle 6 C. Outside of those two, our 3C next year is slated to be Victor Rask... That tells you everything you need to know. We need a center desperately and given our depth on the blue line it makes either Brodin or Dumba somewhat expendable given that we get a fair return for them.

Unfortunately I don't think Montreal parts with these pieces for Brodin. He's a fantastic player, and I'd argue he was our best defenseman last year. The offense will never be great but defensively he has a massive impact for our team. In reality he's a great #3/#2 defenseman, but not that "elite" #1. He'd complement a #1 very nicely on the top pair or provide above average play and carry his partner defensively on the 2nd pair like he has for us for years, but he's not a #1. These pieces are what you give for a #1 defenseman, and that's what I think it boils down to.
