Why are you so hung up on Zacha? He sucks defensively, doesn't produce much offense and is around 43% on the dot. And yet virtually every AGM you make you trade good assets for him. Why?

He’s young, fast, and an excellent penalty killer. Just starting to figure things out offensively. Good contract. There’s a lot to like.

Signing Hall effectively means you won't be able to re-sign Nugent-Hopkins. I'd rather have Nugent-Hopkins

He's a winger who can score goals. That has some value too - probably more than a center who can't score goals, can't win a faceoff and can't defend.

But better in the offensive area

7 mil center > 10 mil winger

Hall isn't going back to Edmonton, You can only sign him for 7 years not 8 years. Fat chance of Green signing that cheaply at least 1 x $2.5mill if not more. And Patrick has migraine issues right now and would be a major risk to acquire.

DeSmith, Johnson ($1,500,000 retained) for Russell

Someone posted a trade like this last week and it is just as bad this week.

Fists, even if you think that Johnson needs sweetener to be traded, DeSmith is more than enough alone, no retention necessary. Then, if you are forcing Pittsburgh to take Russell and his negative value, Edmonton needs to add.

Something more along the lines of DeSmith, Johnson for Russel, 3rd.

However, the Pittsburgh coaching staff actually likes Johnson so he is not going anywhere.
