i would much rather send that mittelstadt and 7OA package to CHI for strome or TBL for cirelli. i don’t think nuge is the best player to get from that package.

I can agree to that. Was just an idea. People take this ACGM too seriously. Lol

I would rather Strome over Cirelli. Corelli had good numbers but was on a stacked team. I think Stromes numbers are more realistic.

Pittsburgh is waiting for you to fill in the rest of the pieces that you are offering for Murray. Tage Nobody and a 3rd (even cond) doesn't even scratch the surface.

Really? 2.78GA .899 SP? Just cause he won cups in the past doesnt change the fact he lost the job for parts of this season and that they are ready to move on from him. Maybe you're right. But I personally wouldn't value him that high based on this years performance.

Philly probably takes that, although I think its a slight underpayment on their behalf, maybe a 2nd instead of a 3rd or a high ceiling mid level prospect added.

Philly needs a RD, Ghost is not the right fit in Philly, and its been to his detriment that Provorov, Sanheim, Hagg and Myers all developed at same time. I think its not a huge downgrade from Risto to Ghost. Risto will either sink or swim going forward and while theres an age difference, the contract difference would be huge at renewal. Both are number 3 dmen, not number 1s.

Philly doesn't need to move Ghost, so theres no point in trading him for an underpayment. Theres also expansion coming and its really down to what either team will protect. PHI will protect Sanheim, provorov and myers likely, whereas BUF will have McCabe expiring and likely getting close to Ghost monies and could protect Dahlin, Montour and Ghost.

We will definitely protect Dahlin and Jokiharju, and then we can think of a third.

It is very strange. Cirelli is much better as a defensive center, Strome has problems with this, and Dylan has problems with skating. I would also think whether to trade #7 for Cirelli, but I definitely would not give away #7 for Strome, especially in this draft.

for me
Cirelli > Strome

This is the stuff I like. Someone posts an idea and then it morphs into an actual discussion rather than just people blasting you and saying you're wrong. Lol My idea was a starting point.

There's zero chance Mittelstadt ever becomes as good as Nugent-Hopkins and only a small chance the 7OA becomes as good - not to mention the 3-4 years required to find out. Edmonton is not rebuilding, this trade doesn't help them now and could well be a loss when we look back 10 years from now.

Holland rejects.

Edmonton declines,

Nuge is a versatile top 6 player who is traded for a borderline prospect (Mittelstadt I don't see being a top 6 player maybe bottom 6) and another draft pick. Oilers would be looking at Olofson +

Just because he had one bad year doesn't mean that he is suddenly worthless, just like one good year doesn't mean that you are suddenly a superstar vlaue.

I'll hedge my bet on Rossi or Perfetti than overpaying RNH for the 3 years he has left in his prime let alone not having McDavid and Draisaitl to carry him

That's fine for Buffalo. I never said that the trade would make sense for Buffalo, just that it doesn't make sense for Edmonton.

Edmonton isn't rebuilding, they are a playoff team looking to become a legit contender. They aren't going to trade a 1st line forward for a pick + prospect package.

But for Buffalo, it could be argued either way. They are no longer in the early build phase and are far enough along that they need to start seeing results. Targeting actual NHL top-6 players makes perfect sense for them, but you're probably best off dealing with a team that is super tight to the cap and who will sell off talent cheaply, such as TBL or NYI or TOR.

Why do people undervalue Nuge so much? Guy scored 69 points last year with 4th liners for wingers, and was part of either the best or second best scoring first line with Draisaitl and Yamamoto this season. Edmonton has no interest in losing this ( their longest served) player and it would cost a fortune to pry him out. And I don’t see an indication he won’t re-sign.

The problem Edmonton will have is RNH will want a costly raise and not sure they will be able to afford him on his next deal.

He shouldn’t garner more than a 1.5m to 2 m raise considering Draisaitl’s 8.5 cap hit. Anyway, so how is it a player Actually worth a 7.5 -8m contract be worth Casey Mittelstadt and a 1st to a non rebuilding team
