Ryan Reaves a signé un contrat de 2 ans d'une valeur de 3 500 000 $ avec les Golden Knights de Vegas, le 15 juin 2020. Le contrat comporte un cap hit de 1 750 000 $.
It's not too bad of a contract, I think. Again, it's only two years and the contract is pretty easy to dump if his game completely falls off the cliff. He's played well for Vegas the last few years. Yes, he's getting up there in years for a hockey player, however, I think that $1.7M for two years is decent for what he provides.
Right now he's one of the top 5 fighters in the league and is a good personality for Vegas marketing. If he's putting up 13-20 points a season its a decent contract. But I voted no because I see him losing his foot-speed in a league that's becoming faster and faster every season.

Reaves was actually a decent skater not too long ago. Has he lost that much speed?
That's a lot for a 4th line goon who is slow as hell.
I know so true. I don't think Mcphee realizes how many goons there are with better skill in the coast and in the AHL that he could have signed for much less.

top 5 is pushing it.
He's too small to be one of the top 5.
These guys who are 6'6 + he's not dropping gloves with them. Nor should he, he just doesn't have the reach.
I mean he tried once with John Scott that didn't work to well. https://www.hockeyfights.com/fights/110137
The only hit he got in was a cheap shot from behind after they were already down on the ice.

Punching a man when hes face down on the ice is proof that he wanted to get a little extra cause his initial bout was trash. It also proves he is a coward.
Call it marketing or whatever you want its just a dumb signing.
He'll be plucked by the STARBUCKS anyways to boost the new franchise gate haul & energize the fans.
So it's just a one yr deal.
McPhee has just greased the SEA-wheels and shined him up w/ the "new car smell" for the taking via nice $-hit w/ 1yr-term for the new club.
Good move...
I must ask: has Reaves slowed down that much? At least in STL, he was a surprisingly good skater.
Did Reaves slow down or does the game keep getting faster is the real question.
There just isn't space in the game anymore for guys who don't have some level of wheels. Use to be able to hide them, even 3-4 years ago. That's all changed.
