given that the ducks are transitioning from full rebuild to developing their assets, i would think they'd rather quality over quantity. I ain't a ducks fan, but i think this is the right move. Rangers might need to add a late pick to balance out the #s (maybe one of their excess 7ths)

I feel this is a good move both ways but idk if they would rather have 2 late firsts or a mid one. not sure what they think

how well do you think Toronto does, if CAR gets the 22 pick? Given that CAR gives the lesser of their two picks? You also got BOS winning the cup in this build

Any draft pick trade comes down to who’s left on the board and if you have a guy you love available at that spot. Personally right now, no I wouldn’t do this. I’m not a draft prospect expert but based on the thoughts of how deep this draft is if there isn’t that big of a drop off between prospect 22 and 31 I’d rather get the extra player too.

I'm having flashback nightmares. It is so similar to the Brian "The Brain" Burke trade to move up to get Tyler Biggs, and then the Ducks picked Rakell and Gibson.

These two summed up my thoughts almost exactly, Value wise it is probably close and a team that needs to start building a prospect pool probably says yes, but the Ducks need to focusing on deepening and developing, I think they would stand pat unless they are in love with a player they don't want to risk missing.

Glad im not the only one that made that comparison. Also the Ducks and Leafs traded swapped 2011 and 2012 6th rounders which went to turn into Josh Manson and Ryan Rupert grimace

Just recently I researched these 241 pick deals, seems like the team moving down knew what they were doing and won by a landslide, while the team moving up was caught star gazing while listening to bad scouting advice! Busts everywhere, total crapshoot considering only 30/210 picks turn into nhlers. Kinda like armchair GMs overvaluation of hype of picks and prospects verses actual guarantees.

As bad the selection of Tyler Biggs was, the Leafs also had the 29th pick that June and picked Stuart Percy. Yikes.
My opinion of Burke was always very low as NHL GM. He's a television personality. He knows what a team should do behind a microphone but as Leaf GM...well you see the results.
Burke hired the the biggest amount of executives....at a high cost to the owners. IMO those executives only job was to tell Burke how smart he was and that all the Toronto fans and media were stupid.
Did Burke and these executives ever see a non NHL arena to evaluate players? Doubt it. No, I think they spend most of their days, dining and drinking at the Air Canada Centre paying homage to the the smartest man in the world, Brian Burke. (on Burke's orders) Few in any of those executives every worked in the NHL again. Burke only NHL job after that was president of the Flames. Didn't help the Flames either.
For player evaluation the owners of the Leafs would have been much better off, heeding advice from a forum like CapFriendly (it didn't exist then) than to pay for Burke and his buddies and their "work."

This, unless a guy like Gunler (Marat) or Mysak is still available, I'd rather take my chances with two of Foerster/Grans/Niemela (and hopefully still land Marat)

Not only who's left on the board but who they got to pick earlier. If they didn't pick Jamie Drysdale earlier and Braden Schneider were still available at #20 (which is where I think the pick will be), then this might be appealing. Not to me, however -- I'm with @Jah1722 and @AFOX10900 : the two picks at the end of the first and #36 should give us two A prospects and for a rebuilding team, I think quantity > quality. Just look at Edmonton.
