Ok, maybe not a dynasty yet but a very solid roster that could compete with any team any night moving forward. 1 CBO used on Neal due to covid times/flat cap allows for so much more depth. Like the potential on line 1 w McDavid. Two speedy skilled wingers and with rumours of puljarvi potentially coming back, the depth may have gotten better. Both of these wingers need a fair chance w McDavid And need to prove they deserve to be on the 1st line, but if they don’t work out, any of the players on line 3 can be switched up to the 1st line. Beauty is really the top 9 is all interchangeable.

That said, like the potential of line 1 as is and the grit mixed w skill of line 3.

2nd line was the best in hockey or one of the best lines at the end of this season so no need to change.

4th line adds some veteran depth w the return of maroon and again just one more winger that can move up as needed.

Bouchard stays on the farm to start the season but see him playing w the big club by the time the year is finished. Defence stays largely the same, w green coming back to see what he could actually do, is a veteran on a relatively young defence group still, and to block Bouchard a bit so he can start in the farm at the beginning of the year.

Trade Benning to get a back up goalie and hopefully future starter. Time will tell, but last time we got a goalie fr New York, Talbot, it turned out well at least to start off... worth trying again for a low trade cost and potential high reward. Goalie position is a little questionable still, but really is the only weakness and to be fair, Koskinen hasn’t been that bad in reality.

Trade for gaborik and buying him out gives more cap room this year to make it all work. Not a fan of $6 m in buyouts For this season, but it drops down to just $2m the following year which isnt horrible. Come on Katz - reach into that pocket book. What’s 1 more buyout?

All contracts handed out could still allow resigning of Nuge and other important core pieces for the following season.

Interested to hear other people’s ideas and thoughts. Think this is all realistic and a team that could win the pacific and be a big threat in the playoffs.
