Rakell is a solid player on an even better contract. I think MTL takes that and runs.

Unless its Lehko, Brook and the 2020 first this is the easiest pass of Bob Murrays life

This would never even be considered by ANA

I was gonna 100% agree with the people above. Then I looked into both prospects. What Ana is looking for as far as base roster goes is not this package, but Ana is hard into a rebuild and they're not fixing this in one year. I like both the prospects numbers, a 2 and a 3 aren't garbage picks and Rakell is only on two years left. He's probably going to get deadlined for a pile like this anyway at some point. What Ana wants for Rakell doesn't really exist. Maybe Dumba but I think other teams can offer more than Rakell for Dumba. If Ana shops around and doesn't see the D they're looking for this is a very strong fall back. Maybe they finagle the 3 into another 2 but that's semantics but I'm gonna go crazy here and say deal from both sides.

I don't see how Anaheim even tries to say anything remotely close to a "yes" on this trade. Lehkonen is a solid player, but Rakell has a brighter future and is a better player. I get the picks and prospects, but a mid-tier prospect, a 2 and a 3? I think ANA would ask for a 1st and a better prospect, plus Lehkonen if ANA wants to move Rakell. And I doubt they even want to do that.

On 2nd & 3rd rounders...
They are good picks to have but a low chance of being NHLers of much significance. Mid 6 to bottom 6 F’s is a realistic hope. Top 4 D maybe or more likely bottom pairing. More picks though can better the chance to find a gem. Overall more likely to be role/depth players.
