Trying to match up with the Pens (skill wise somewhat)
Pens fans don't shoot, stab, or kill me in any other way if I get the lines wrong.
PENS FIRST LINE: Zucker - Crosby - Guentzel
HABS FIRST LINE: Tatar - Danault - Gallagher
Tatar has been better than Zucker this season, going nearly PPG.
You can't compare Danault or anyone else with Crosby.
Guentzel is better than Gallagher, but (idk about Guentzel) Gallagher is the heart and soul of our team.
WINNER - PIT
Lots of Pens fans say Sheary sucks, but Drouin didn't fare well this season either after getting hit with injuries TWICE. Nevertheless, Drouin is better.
Domi vs Malkin. Not close.
Nick Suzuki vs Bryan Rust. This season, Rust was (!) OVER PPG (I didn't even know that wow), and Suzuki had a really good rookie season, but Rust > Suzuki this series. Wonder if Rust can repeat that...
WINNER - PIT
PENS 3RD LINE: ZAR - McCann - Hornqvist
HABS 3RD LINE: Lehkonen - KK - Armia
ZAR had a 19 point pace, Lehkonen had a 32 point pace. Lehkonen wins imo.
Jared McCann vs Jesperi Kotkaniemi. KK had a horrible sophomore season, but he's the only 3C we've got. I believe he can do well again, but imo McCann wins.
Hornqvist had 2 more points than Armia in 6 less games. He is the winner.
WINNER - PIT
Byron only played 29 games, but got 10 points. Post-injury Byron was great with Domi. Tanev got 25 pts in 68 GP. I think Tanev is the winner.
Poehling vs Blueger. Poehling had as many points as Jimmy Howard had wins, in (I think) the same amount of games (2/27). Blueger's point output was 11 times Poehling's. We all know who wins here.
Evans was good at 4C at the end of the season, posting 3 points in 13 games, whereas Erod got 10 pts in 45 GP. I think Evans is the winner here.
WINNER - PIT
Dumoulin is a 1LD, Chiarot is a 2LD. Simple as that.
Letang vs Weber. That's tough imo. I think Weber has to win this
So it goes down to the difference between Dumoulin and Chiarot + Weber and Letang.
WINNER - PIT
As impressive as Romanov was in WJC @ KHL, he hasn't proven anything in the NHL. Pettersson, on the other hand, just got an extension worth (about) 4Mx5.
Marino, a 2RD, vs Petry, a 1RD.
Once again, it comes down to the difference between Pettersson vs Romanov + Petry vs Marino.
WINNER - PIT
Mete isn't all that great, but Riikola isn't either. Mete was a bit better than Riikola imo.
Kulak put up less points than Schultz in more GP. Kulak ain't great either.
WINNER - PIT
PENS STARTER: Murray
HABS STARTER: Price
I think Murray can do well again, but Price had better stats.
WINNER - MTL
PENS BACKUP: Jarry
HABS BACKUP: Primeau
Jarry is a starter, just like Murray, Primeau could be a surprise for the Habs.
WINNER - PIT
Well, seems like the Pens have an advantage nearly everywhere. Good luck Habs...
the fact that we are seriously comparing Danault and Crosby is just hilarious. Sid bad defensively? 4th in Selke votes last year. This year he was battling injuries and wasn't playing up to HIS standard yet was STILL on pace for over 90 points. This conversation is so pointless if you're so blind to think that MTL has a better first line that pit despite Pitt having Jake and Sid, two clear cut elite players. I know you're just trolling me and trying to get a reaction so im not gonna fall for it.
I've had more fruitful conversations with brick walls
No one thought Carbonneau was better than Gretzky, but he shut him down during the 1993 playoffs
No one thought Koivu was better than Thornton, but he shut him down during the 2004 playoffs

I cant wait till Sids line lights up Danault's line in the play-ins. the habs first line isn't a true first line. its a good second line. and when MTL plays against a real contender like pit you'll see first hand

real contender.. you had Jack Johnson, probably one of the worst defenseman in the league playing first pair minutes.. but okay, see you in july or august

shows how little you know about Pittsburgh. we missed letang, dumo, schultz, and marino to significant injuries this year. with a healthy roster hes our #6D (or #7 behind Rikola) and hes more than capable of playing a sheltered role. he was actually fine to start the season playing sheltered minutes before the injuries started to pile in.

I know, just wanted to spite you
And no, Johnson should retire, he's god damn awful. He's the reason you have to play against the Habs in a play-in series. You went from 3rd in the league to 7th in february.

We went on a cold streak. It happens. No one expected this COVID play in. I wasn’t worried at all during the losing streak. Johnson is fine though in a sheltered role, and I really don’t like him so it says a lot if I defend him
