MTL vs PIT Series Comparison

Créé par: zk97
Équipe: 2019-20 Canadiens de Montréal
Date de création initiale: 11 juin 2020
Publié: 11 juin 2020
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
Trying to match up with the Pens (skill wise somewhat)
Pens fans don't shoot, stab, or kill me in any other way if I get the lines wrong.

PENS FIRST LINE: Zucker - Crosby - Guentzel
HABS FIRST LINE: Tatar - Danault - Gallagher

Tatar has been better than Zucker this season, going nearly PPG.
You can't compare Danault or anyone else with Crosby.
Guentzel is better than Gallagher, but (idk about Guentzel) Gallagher is the heart and soul of our team.
WINNER - PIT

PENS 2ND LINE: Sheary - Malkin - Rust
HABS 2ND LINE: Drouin - Domi - Suzuki

Lots of Pens fans say Sheary sucks, but Drouin didn't fare well this season either after getting hit with injuries TWICE. Nevertheless, Drouin is better.
Domi vs Malkin. Not close.
Nick Suzuki vs Bryan Rust. This season, Rust was (!) OVER PPG (I didn't even know that wow), and Suzuki had a really good rookie season, but Rust > Suzuki this series. Wonder if Rust can repeat that...
WINNER - PIT

PENS 3RD LINE: ZAR - McCann - Hornqvist
HABS 3RD LINE: Lehkonen - KK - Armia

ZAR had a 19 point pace, Lehkonen had a 32 point pace. Lehkonen wins imo.
Jared McCann vs Jesperi Kotkaniemi. KK had a horrible sophomore season, but he's the only 3C we've got. I believe he can do well again, but imo McCann wins.
Hornqvist had 2 more points than Armia in 6 less games. He is the winner.
WINNER - PIT

PENS 4TH LINE: Tanev - Blueger - Rodrigues
HABS 4TH LINE: Byron - Poehling - Evans

Byron only played 29 games, but got 10 points. Post-injury Byron was great with Domi. Tanev got 25 pts in 68 GP. I think Tanev is the winner.
Poehling vs Blueger. Poehling had as many points as Jimmy Howard had wins, in (I think) the same amount of games (2/27). Blueger's point output was 11 times Poehling's. We all know who wins here.
Evans was good at 4C at the end of the season, posting 3 points in 13 games, whereas Erod got 10 pts in 45 GP. I think Evans is the winner here.
WINNER - PIT

PENS 1ST PAIR: Dumoulin - Letang
HABS 1ST PAIR: Chiarot - Weber

Dumoulin is a 1LD, Chiarot is a 2LD. Simple as that.
Letang vs Weber. That's tough imo. I think Weber has to win this
So it goes down to the difference between Dumoulin and Chiarot + Weber and Letang.
WINNER - PIT

PENS 2ND PAIR: Pettersson - Marino
HABS 2ND PAIR: Romanov - Petry

As impressive as Romanov was in WJC @ KHL, he hasn't proven anything in the NHL. Pettersson, on the other hand, just got an extension worth (about) 4Mx5.
Marino, a 2RD, vs Petry, a 1RD.
Once again, it comes down to the difference between Pettersson vs Romanov + Petry vs Marino.
WINNER - PIT

PENS 3RD PAIR: Riikola - Schultz
HABS 3RD PAIR: Mete - Kulak

Mete isn't all that great, but Riikola isn't either. Mete was a bit better than Riikola imo.
Kulak put up less points than Schultz in more GP. Kulak ain't great either.
WINNER - PIT

PENS STARTER: Murray
HABS STARTER: Price

I think Murray can do well again, but Price had better stats.
WINNER - MTL

PENS BACKUP: Jarry
HABS BACKUP: Primeau

Jarry is a starter, just like Murray, Primeau could be a surprise for the Habs.
WINNER - PIT

Well, seems like the Pens have an advantage nearly everywhere. Good luck Habs...

Good analysis. However, the Pens fourth line will be ZAR-Blueger-Tanev, they have done extremely well this season. Also, Sheary likely plays with Sid.

Our defense is way better than you give it credit for. And this is without Romanov. Kulak with Petry and Mete with Weber.

First line, win: MTL
Second line, win: PIT
Third line, win: PIT
Fourth line, win: PIT

First pair, win: PIT
Second pair, win: Fair
Third pair, win: MTL

Goalie, win: PIT.

he did a good job considering. basically, pens are the heavy favourites but anything is possible during the COVID cup. if Murray sucks in game 1 and price stands on his head, pens are In big trouble from the start.

Nah Crosby fell off a cliff defensively this year and Danault Tatar Gallagher is one of the best possession line in the NHL

Dude, I'm giving you the rest and I think that PIT is gonna win in 3 games, but don't come at me because you're misinformed

Coping mechanism is strong in this one.

No matter how many times you say it it's not going to change the fact that line vs. line, Tatar Danault Gallagher is better than Guentz-Crosby-Sheary

Who cares about the number, since Chiarot played 1 match with Weber, CJ never separated them. He won’t separate theM now, especially in the playoffs

I'm literally saying you'll win in 3. I'm saying 3/4 of your forwards are better than ours. And goaltending-wise I'm saying Jarry is better than Price.

How am I biased!?

Sid and Jake didn’t play much together at all this year, but last year when they played together Sid had 100 points and Jake had 40 goals. Throw sheary in there as a speedy forechecker and it’s a very good line. I get Tatar-Danault-Gallagher line had a very good season, but at the end of the day, Pens have the 2 best players out of all 6, including Crosby who still is 2nd best in the world. This COVID pause will help the penguins as they get some much needed rest and get a healthy Jake back for playoffs.

And idk how you can say Jarry is better than Price. Pens have the habs beat in forwards and defence, but goaltending is where habs have the edge and that’s the only way habs will be able to win the series. If Murray/Jarry stink and price has a great series, habs can win. But again, the advantage isn’t the first line, it’s in net.

1. Danault Tatar Gallagher is the better line whether you like it or not. That does not mean Danault is better than Crosby and it's not what I said. Crosby from last year than maybe, but Crosby from this year nope.
2. The 3 other lines the Pens completely dominate. No doubt about it. Crosby is probably going to chew us up and spit us out on the powerplay alone.
3. Habs and Pens defense is nearly identical, Jarry and Price faced similar amount of work per 60 minutes and Jarry did better. Price was slightly better with high danger shots, but overall Jarry was better.

1- habs first line over exceeded expectations. its not a better first line than pits. Just because they had a better CF doesn't make it a better first line lol. And like I said, Jake played 39 games this year (mainly with Malkin, and Sid played 41 games this year. They did not play together much this season but historically the line is much better and on paper it is much better. Not one GM in the league is taking Tatar-Danault-Gallagher over Jake-Sid-Sheary. Sid, despite being injured and struggling a bit this year, still had 47 points in 41 games and was on a 94 point pace. Jake was poised to score 40 goals again had he not gotten injured. There is absolutely no debate that Jake-Sid-Sheary is a better line. look what they have done in previous seasons and in previous playoff runs.
2- Pens D is better than MTL's. Pens top 4 of Dumo-Letang, Petterson, Marino is extremely underrated.

laugh

I compared the Tatar, Danault, Gallagher line with the Simon, Crosby, Guentzel line and we'll see if they had just a better CF

Tatar Danault Gallagher had:
A better CF/60
A better CA/60
A better FF/60
A better FA/60
A better GF/60
A better GA/60
A better xGF/60
A better xGA/60
A better SCF/60
A better SCA/60
A better HDCF/60
A better HDCA/60
A better HDGF/60
HDGA/60 was equal

I maintain that the team defense is very very similar 5v5. Pens are way better on the PK, which tips the balance in their favor.

Wow better analytics!!! Another stats geek who doesn’t watch hockey and can’t identify elite players. No one with two eyes and a brain would sit here and say that Montreal’s first line is better than Pittsburgh’s. Your world boss. This is the issue with these advanced stats. They’re not the “be all end all” solution to evaluate players. They’re a great tool, but take them with a grain of salt. Sid is one of the best to ever play the game, Jake is an elite scoring winger. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out which line is better. Danault is a 2C and Tatar and Gallagher are good, but not at the level of Jake. It’s not even close

Are the words I'm saying too complicated for you? let me try a type of speech easier for you to understand

Grug man say , Siddakid issues defensively.. no longer selke like.. DanO, possession monster.. yes Siddakid is generational player, gud shootta, gud passa, powa play gud.. But DanO King of defense.. King Dan0 play against McDavid, MacKinnon, Barkov, Matthews.. Everywhere DanO go.. Dano Succeed...

the fact that we are seriously comparing Danault and Crosby is just hilarious. Sid bad defensively? 4th in Selke votes last year. This year he was battling injuries and wasn't playing up to HIS standard yet was STILL on pace for over 90 points. This conversation is so pointless if you're so blind to think that MTL has a better first line that pit despite Pitt having Jake and Sid, two clear cut elite players. I know you're just trolling me and trying to get a reaction so im not gonna fall for it.
